Russian Language Week in Shanghai

On September 18 to 25, 2017 Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU) is carrying out "Week of the Russian Language" at its representative office in Shanghai. The event is going to be held with the support of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Shanghai.

Due to the development of cooperation between Russia and China there is a keen interest in learning the Russian language and culture, which is constantly growing. St. Petersburg Polytechnic University has elaborated an intensive program for Russian language teachers, Chinese students, schoolchildren and anyone who is interested in Russian culture.

A program of professional training "Russian language as a foreign language and the methodology how to teach the language" will be conducted for Chinese teachers under supervision of experienced professors of SPbPU.

For students and schoolchildren, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University has designed an intensive course of the Russian language. Within 15 academic hours students will learn basic grammar, get minimum vocabulary and immerse in the atmosphere of studying abroad.

Anyone may take the Russian language proficiency test. And if a student successfully passes the test he or she will be awarded with a pleasant surprise.

In addition, as part of the "Russian Club" event "Welcome to Russia", the participants will learn more about the folk art and culture of Russia, listen to the famous Russian songs, learn about speech etiquette and taste the dishes of traditional national cuisine, and also will be involved in the ceremony of Russian tea drinking which is dramatically different from the Chinese one.

At the end of the event the quiz "What do I know about Russia?" will be held.

At Shanghai office of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University a photo exhibition dedicated to the studies of Chinese youth at SPbPU, an exhibition of folk art, and the best tutorials to learn the Russian language will be demonstrated.

Participants will receive official documents certifying completion of the continuing education program and other events of the "Russian Language Week".

Only one student will be given opportunity to take a free two-week internship at Peter the Great Polytechnic University to be awarded by the organizers of the "Russian Language Week". The winner will be chosen based on the quiz results and active participation in the event.
