The «Global citizen» joint project of SPbPU and the University of Stuttgart has started
On 6-10th April Peter the Great Saint-Petersburg Polytechnic University was visited by Wolfgang Holtkamp, D.Phil. of the chair for American Studies, Senior Advisor for International Affairs of the University of Stuttgart. This marked the start of the «Global citizen» joint project at our universities.
The cooperation agreement between the chair for American Studies of the University of Stuttgart and the Institute of International Educational Programs was signed in December, 2014 by rectors during the official visit of rector A. I. Rudskoy and the Polytechnic University`s delegation to the University of Stuttgart.
The «Global citizen» project aims to create international educational programs for such syllabi as American literature and culture. The educational programs` content was negotiated at the International Relations Department with the participation of the IIEP director A. M. Aleksankov, the head of the International Relations Department S. N. Pogodin, associate professor of the International Relations Department and project coordinator N. V. Bogdanova, and associate professor N. Y. Grishina.
During a week visit Dr. Holtkamp delivered a cycle of lectures for 1st - and 3d-year students of the major "Foreign Regional Studies". He was assisted by the Master's program student Jonathan Leutwyler from the University of Stuttgart. Dr. Holtkamp is also a developer of the distance course, which will allow students to continue their studies in a distant form in April and May. At the end of May Dr. Holtkamp is arriving in Saint-Petersburg to complete the course and to assess students' performance.
Within the visit Wolfgang Holtkamp had a meeting with the SPbPU vice-rector for International Relations D. G. Arsenyev and with employees of international offices. They discussed plans of strategic partnership between our universities, opportunities of students` and professors’ exchange programs, invitation of German lecturers to SPbPu. At the end of the meeting the colleagues discussed a forthcoming visit of Stuttgart University's delegation to SPbPU that will be held in June, 2015, and will be devoted to the 25th anniversary of the cooperation between our universities.
