The Partnership between SPbPU and SWISSAM: First steps for Russian Tourism Perfection

Double Degree Programs have been successfully implemented at Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University for more than 10 years. In consequence of this fact SPbPU students are able to take studies at both SPBPU and university with a relevant profile and complete graduate work successfully. Currently there are more than 340 overseas universities in cooperation with Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University. A high percentage of them are the leading universities. It should be noted that most of Double Degree Programs are developed and taught in English language.

Double Degree Programs development and implementation are one of the main strategic projects of Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University. February 9, 2017, guided by a desire to develop network of the universities and on behalf of cooperation in higher education, science and culture there was executed the agreement for scientific and educational cooperation between the Institute of Physical Education, Sport and Tourism (IPEST of SPbPU) and SWISSAM Hospitality Business & Culinary Arts School. Having wide experience in such programs implementation SPbPU performs as a credible partner and expresses readiness for collaborative study implementation in the areas of overlapping concern.

Present at the meeting were: Director of Institute of Physical Education, Sport and Tourism V.P. Sushchenko, Head of the Teaching Department A.V. Cherkassova, Director of SC ‘Polytechnic’ R. Agaev, etc. SWISSAM represented the owner the SWISSAM Hospitality Business & Culinary Arts School M. Tevelev, Head of Tourism Department S. Bossard, Senior Lecturer Kostas Sillignakis, Director of Educational Programs O.V. Lyubenkova.

During the talks the parties discussed prospects for cooperation. IPEST of SPbPU is interested in specialist training at tourism and hospitality. SWISSAM representatives started a proposal for development of the international cooperative program in tourism and hospitality, especially Double Degree Programs that could foster SPbPU students to gain practical skills in tourism and hospitality abroad.

First steps in cooperation implementation will have been done in February: SPbPU will hold a lecture for international standards in tourism and trade by S. Bossard, which is targeted at wide audience. In May there will be an international conference where SPbPU international partners including SWISSAM representatives are going to participate.
