Chinese Scientists Visit Institute of Humanities at St. Petersburg Polytechnic University
The delegates from Tsinghua University visited St. Petersburg Polytechnic University on April 22-24, 2015. The delegation included Prof. Hou Xu-dong, the Dean of the Department of History, Prof. Wang Qi, the head of the Institute of Strategic Cooperation between China and Russia, Prof. Peng Gang, the Vice Dean of the School of Humanities for Teaching, Prof. Liu Shi, the Vice Dean of the School of Humanities for Research, etc.
Prof. M. P. Fedorov, SPbPU President, member of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Prof. Y. S. Vasilev, SPbPU Research Advisor, member of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Prof. V. V. Gloukhov, SPbPU Senior Vice-Rector; Prof. D. I. Kuznetsov, SPbPU Vice-Rector and Press-secretary, were welcoming the guests. The heads of various departments of Institute of Humanities of the Polytechnic University and Chinese representatives attended a meeting, where they defined some perspectives for scientific and academic co-operation (exchange programs, shared scientific conferences, comparative research, publications, etc.).
Prof. Wang Qi, who is a graduate of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, gave a lecture for Humanities students – it was called the Evolution of Cultural Exchange between China and Russia. The Chinese scholars made some presentations at the international scientific conference – the 70th Anniversary of the Victory Day, WWII, 1939-1945. Prof. Nie Jianguo, Professor Emeritus of St-Petersburg Polytechnic University, member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; and Prof. Wan Junren, the Dean of the School of Humanities, sent their greetings to the conference participants. The members of the conference discussed WWII reflected in modern Chinese historiography, USSR’s strategy in the Far East in 1941-1945, Sino-Japanese War, etc. All the participants were quite interested in the discussion.
The series of special issues of St. Petersburg State Polytechnical University Journal and Journal of Tsinghua University: Philosophy and Social Sciences Edition devoted to the 70th Anniversary of the Victory Day are to be published soon.
