Cooperation between the Polytechnic University and universities of the Netherlands in the sphere of education and research - further development
The Institute of Industrial Economics and Management (IIEM) as part of SPbPU is cultivating ties with Dutch universities in the sphere of education and research. On 11th November V.A. Leventsov, the Director of IIEM, directors of the Institute departments and their staff met the delegation of Zuyd University of Applied Sciences (Maastricht, the Netherlands). The members of the foreign delegation were Miriam Ubachs, the Director of the Faculty of International Business and Communication, Pofessors Eduard Overs and Joseph Spaubek.
Zuyd University specializes in teaching disciplines closely connected with the needs of modern society, i.e. international management, management of innovative technologies, materials and sources of energy. Over the last three years Zuyd University has been ranked third among the national applied sciences universities in the Netherlands.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss further issues concerning the creation of common bachelor's and master's programs at SPbPU and Zuyd University, as well as organizing student exchange programs and internships for lecturers and carrying out joint research.
It should be reminded that it was not the first instance of cooperation with our Dutch colleagues. For example, Eduard Overs, a lecturer from Zuyd University of Applied Sciences, was one of the 35 international lecturers to sign a cooperation agreement with SPbPU. Besides, in April this year the second stage of the international short-term program "International Strategic Management" came to an end. The program had been organized by the Department of Strategic Management at IIEM and the Faculty of International Business and Communication of Zuyd University. The first part of this program took place at our University in November 2014 when 25 Dutch students attended a special course together with Russian students from IIEM. The second part was at Zuyd University. During eight days the students of the Polytechnic University attended the lectures of international professors, participated in seminars, work-shops, discussions, carried out team research projects. At that time it was decided to hold such international two-stage programs every year - in autumn and spring terms.
During the negotiations V.A. Leventsov expressed a wish to further develop the relations between our universities in the sphere of science and education. "At the Institute of Industrial Economics and Management we introduce new educational technologies adopting the methods of our foreign colleagues. It is significant for our students that they have an opportunity to learn about special features of running an international business while studying together with Dutch students during short-term and semester programs", said the Director of IIEM.
Miriam Ubachs, the Director of the Faculty of International Business and Communication confirmed the fact that their University was also interested in further cooperation with the Institute of Industrial Economics and Management of the Polytechnic University: "We are sure of support and partnership of our Russian colleagues. I thank you for your hearty welcome and professional communication which is to be continued".
