European Strip of Cooperation

From 19 to 20 July, the delegation from SPbPU headed by Rector A.I. RUDSKOY visited the leading companies of Italy and Germany, which specialize in manufacturing stainless steel precision strip.

"Strip" means a long narrow piece of a material, which is what a strip looks like. It is a metal strip with certain properties, which serves as an auxiliary constructional material. Strip finds a high-tech industrial application in different fields: car industry, electronics, electrical engineering, construction, and other branches of industry.

Arinox S.p.a is the only Italian manufacturer of precision strip with the output of more than 50 thousand tons per year. The SPbPU delegation visited manufacturing plants of the company in Sestri Levante (Italy) and saw the work of unique equipment for stainless steel rerolling and precision strip cutting. At the meeting with the company management – D. Stringini and N. Caffarena – Rector of SPbPU A.I. Rudskoy discussed the opportunities of scientific interaction in material science.

It should be noted that Arinox S.p.a, founded in 1990, is a part of the concern for producing and processing steel - Arvedy Group. In the city of Cremona (Italy), where the head office of the concern is situated, A.I. Rudskoy met with managers of two other companies-members of the concern – C. Pasquali from Acciaieria Arvedi S.p.a and S. Pialli from Iltainox.

Among the members of the Arinox corporation there is a German company DMA Hamburg Inox & Alloys GmbH, which is the German leader of manufacturing stainless steel precision strip with the export of ultimate products to more than 30 countries.

The SPbPU delegation visited the company's office in Hamburg (Germany) also manufacturing plants and warehouses in Seevetal (Germany). Rector A.I. Rudskoy discussed joint scientific projects with the company management and signed a framework agreement on cooperation between SPbPU and DMA Hamburg..
