The Best Report at the International Seminar on Fire and Explosion Hazards

7 June 2016 Achievements 1288

The report, made by Ekaterina KOKOVKINA, a second-year student in the Master’s course of the department “Hydro- and Aerodynamics, Combustion and Heat Exchange”, Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, SPbPU, was recognized as the best one at the 8th International Seminar on Hazards of Fire and Explosions, which took place in Hefei, China.

The Best Report at the International Seminar on Fire and Explosion Hazards

The conference is one of the main international forums where scientists and engineers of the leading universities and industrial companies demonstrate the latest results in combustion physics and chemistry during fire and explosions.

At the seminar, hosted by the State Key Laboratory of Fire Science, University of Science and Technology, Hefei, there were presented more than 100 papers, showing the results of theoretical and experimental research and mathematical modeling. The work of SPbPU was rendered in two presentations with the results of the ongoing research, being conducted by the scientific group “Fire-simulation and Combustibility of Materials” under supervision of Professor A. Y. SNEGIREV (the Department of “Hydro- and Aerodynamics, Combustion and Heat Exchange”, Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, SPbPU).

It should be emphasized that Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University is one of the contenders for holding the next International Seminar on Fire and Explosion Hazards (ISFEH-9) in 2019. If successful, the entry of SPbPU, which will compete with similar entries from Brisbane (Australia) and Oslo (Norway), will bring the seminar back to Russia after more than twenty-year break.
