PhD Students of SPbPU Have Internship at Hong Kong Polytechnic University
In summer 2017 the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), a strategic partner of SPbPU, announced the beginning of internship competition for second year PhD students. We have recently got information about the results: four PhD Students of SPbPU won the opportunity to have an internship in Hong Kong. Eugene KHRAPUNOV, Marina ZASIMOVA, Elizabeth KOLESNIK (Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics) and Camille AGISHEV (Institute of Industrial Management, Economics and Trade (IMET)) will study at PolyU.
‘11 applications from Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University have been made this year. We would definitely want as much PhD students to try and participate in the project as possible. In 2018 the competition will be announced in February or March, so I would recommend everyone to look for this information on the website and other official resources of SPbPU. Participating in international projects is a good opportunity for students to approve themselves, to work with international professors, get valuable and useful experience’, - considers deputy director for international activities of IMET T.U. HVATOVA, project coordinator, who helped students a lot with filling in and processing necessary documents.
For taking part in the competition you should write a motivation letter, describe the topic and aims of you research. Also you have to provide a detailed curriculum vitae and a list of publications of your thesis supervisor. An appropriate thesis supervisor in Hong Kong will be found for you by representatives of PolyU.
In 2017 the competition gave priority to technical and engineering professions, but there was made an exception for Camille AGISHEV, a PhD student of Institute of Industrial Management, Economics and Trade (IMET): he will undertake an internship on management. The topic of his project on risk evaluation has caught interest of the competition providers and PolyU professors.
PhD students who made applications for the PolyU competition are strictly examined by the contest committee. Financial support of participants is provided by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. During practical study at PolyU participants get scholarships for covering their expenses. Internship lasts from 3 to 5 months.
