From 14th to 17th June experts from the University of Genoa (Italy) held seminars on active teaching methods as part of MARUEEB ERASMUS+ project, attended by lecturers and staff of the Institute of Civil Engineering and other institutes of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University.

MARUEEB project (Master Degree in Innovative Technologies in Energy Efficient Buildings for Russian & Armenian Universities and Stakeholders) was started in 2015. This project is aimed at developing and modernizing the master’s degree program called Innovative Technologies in Energy Efficient Buildings at three Russian and two Armenian universities participating in the project in order to improve the quality and relevance of education in compliance with the demands of the labor market.

Angelo Musco, Professor of the University of Genoa and ERASMUS+ MARUEEB Project Coordinator, opened a series of seminars at SPbPU. Professor Alfredo Squarzoni continued the lectures raising the issues of European methods in higher education, ensuring the quality of educational programs in the European system of education, and integrating higher education into the common European framework as part of the Bologna process.

Professor Diego Lo Presti, President of EUCEET Association (European Civil Engineering Education and Training), covered the issues of estimating professional competencies of master’s degree students and graduates.

Professor Antonella Lotti held a series of workshops, round table discussions and games devoted to problem-based and team-based teaching methods. The participants were offered several situations in which they were supposed to choose and justify this or that teaching method.

At the end of the program the participants received international certificates and discussed further cooperation in this area with the Italian experts.

In October 2016 a 40-day paid internship for young lecturers and postgraduate students in the sphere of construction is to take place at the University of Genoa.

MARUEEB ERASMUS+ Project (Master Degree in Innovative Technologies in Energy Efficient Buildings for Russian & Armenian Universities and Stakeholders) is scheduled for 2015-2018. The University of Genoa (Italy) acts as project coordinator.

The main goals of the project include reforming the educational program in compliance with the latest developments of the Bologna process (transparency, correspondence between the national and international recognition of educational programs); focusing the learning process on new methods such as the interdisciplinary and interactive approach; organizing cooperative teaching, mobility and research with the help of the associate members of the consortium.
