Extension of the migration registration and visa
Extension of the migration card for the academic year and marking in the migration card for visa-free countries is performed at the SPbPU Passport and Visa Department (PVD) of the University.

1. Prepare all documents to extend your migration registration in advance
To extend your registration (for the period up to 1 year), please prepare and submit the following documents to the Passport and Visa Department no later than 30 days prior to the expiry date of your registration:
- Your passport and Xerox copies of all passport pages (in case of entry with an identity card, please attach copies of both its sides); (if the copies were made before entering Russia, a copy of the page with the entry stamp must be added)
- The original and a Xerox copy of the migration card
- For foreign nationals enrolled as Russian nationals: the original and a certified copy of the Enrollment Contract (can be requested at the SPbPU 1st educational building, rooms 302 or 308) or the Certificate(“Spravka”; can be requested at the SPbPU 1st educational building, room 361)
- For foreign nationals: A certified copy of the Enrollment Contract (can be requested at the SPbPU 15th educational building, room 202) or a certified copy of the referral letter, issued by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia (same building, room 203)
- The original of the Extract from the Enrollment Order (can be requested):
- For foreign nationals enrolled as Russian nationals: at SPbPU 1st educational building, room 361
- For foreign nationals: at SPbPU 15th educational building, room 202.
- A Xerox copy of the passport photo page with personal data and the migration card with the passport stamp on one A4 sheet of paper for the Passport and Visa Department
- The original of the Form1 from the dormitory for the students staying in dormitories
- The original registration slip.

2. Collect your extended migration card and your registration
- For students staying in the dormitory, the migration card with extended validity and your new registration will be ready within 10 working days upon submission. You can collect them at the Passport and Visa Department.
- If you are staying in a rented apartment, you should collect you migration card with extended validity and then register at the place of your residence for the validity period of the migration card at the local MFC in the district of your rented apartment. After collecting your new registration you must submit a copy of it to the SPbPU Passport and Visa Department at Grazhdansky pr., 30, Unified center for foreign citizens or via e-mail pvo@spbstu.ru .
If a foreign national (student, postgraduate student, intern) leaves the Russian Federation, after returning to the territory of Russia he/she must apply for resuming his/her migration registration at the place of residence within 3 working days.
A foreign national who has lost his/her migration card or registration may stay without any of them in the territory of the Russian Federation no longer than for 3 days. Therefore, the card and registration must be urgently restored. Please contact the SPbPU Passport and Visa Department at Grazhdansky pr., 30, Unified center for foreign citizens.
You can extend the period of your lawful stay in Russia for up to 1 year by extending your Russian visa. By instructions of the University Administration, your visa might be extended for a period less than one year.
You can extend a single-entry visa and a multiple-entry visa.
1. Submit documents to extend your visa
To extend your visa, please prepare a full set of relevant documents and submit them in person to the Passport and Visa Department no earlier than 90 calendar days and no later than 45 calendar days prior to the expiry date of your visa. Please prepare the following documents:
- The original passport and 2 sets of Xerox copies of all passport pages (foreign nationals staying in rented apartments submit one set of copies of all passport pages)
- The original and a copy of the registration (both sides)
- 2 Xerox copies of the migration card
- An additional Xerox copy of the passport photo page with personal data and the migration card with the passport stamp (both copies must be placed on one A4 sheet of paper) to the Passport and Visa Department
- Two color photos 3.5х4.5 cm
- A confirmation of the state duty payment (or you can pay it at the place of document submission)
- An Extract from the Enrollment Order (for students of the main educational programs)
- A certified at the Educational Department copy of the Enrollment Contract (for students who study on a fee-paying basis) or a copy of the referral letter, issued by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia certified at the Educational Department (for the quota students)
- Filled in visa application form.

A multi entry visa will be ready within 45 calendar days upon submission of the documents to the Passport and Visa Department.
After submission of the documents for visa extension, a foreign national should have on him/her: a confirmation slip issued by the Passport and Visa Department; the migration card and a Xerox copy of the actual registration. The passport of the foreign national will stay with the Passport and Visa Department.
2. Collect your passport with a multi entry visa
You can collect your passport with a multi entry visa at the Passport and Visa Department on the date indicated in the slip issued to you when submitting documents.
We kindly request that you do not purchase air or train tickets in advance. Please check on the expiry dates of your documents when booking your tickets for exiting and entering Russia.
You cannot enter Russia prior to the date of entrance indicated in your visa nor stay in Russia after your visa has expired.
3. Extend your registration after receiving your passport with a new visa
Registration of foreign nationals staying in the university dormitories is processed by the Passport and Visa Department.
If you rent an apartment, please ask your landlord to extend your registration. A foreign national must register at the place of residence within 3 days after receiving his/her passport with extended visa and submit the new migration registration to the SPbPU Passport and Visa Department.
