VISA
Processing the extension of your student visa takes up to 45 calendar days. Processing of new registration is free of charge.
All foreign citizens (except for citizens of the Republic of Belarus and citizens having the status of temporary residence permit or residence permit) arriving in Russia must undergo mandatory fingerprinting, photographing and medical examination (in accordance with Federal Law № 274-FZ of 01.07.2021):
- Students, postgraduate students, trainees - within 90 days from the moment of entry into the Russian Federation
- Foreign teachers - within 30 days from the moment of entry into the Russian Federation

To obtain a multi entry visa you must prepare a full set of documents: your passport, registration, and migration card (originals); two Xerox copies of your passport (for students staying in the dormitory and one copy for students staying in rented apartments) and a copy of your migration card; a certified copy of the Enrollment Contract or a certified copy of the referral letter, issued by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia; an extract from the Enrollment Order; two color photos 3.5х4.5 cm and bring this set of documents to the PVD 45 days before the expiry date of your visa. Your new visa might be issued for the period up to one year.
The new visa will be issued in 30 days after the documents are accepted by the PVD.

Foreign nationals enrolled as RF nationals can collect the original Certificate (Spravka) on the mode of study in the room 361, 1st educational building of the University; foreign nationals enrolled through the Admission Commission for foreign nationals can collect a copy of the referral letter issued by the Ministry and an extract from the Enrollment Order in the room 206, 15th educational building (“IMOP”).
MIGRATION REGISTRATION
Please be aware that pursuant to Russian legislation, foreign citizens who violate immigration regulations are subject to a fine of up to RUB 7,000 (seven thousand rubles) and may be deported from Russia on the basis of a court decision, with a further ban on entry into the Russian Federation for up to 5 years.

It takes 7 working days to process your initial registration.
To extend your registration, you must first extend your migration card. After that your migration registration will be extended for the period of your migration card validity. Hence it takes 14 working days to process your registration.
If you travel to other RF cities and stay in hotels you must visit the PVD upon return to St. Petersburg to process your new registration.
The purpose of your entry must be study.
In case of loss of your migration card please inform PVD without undue delay and come to the Department the same or the next day for processing a duplicate.

Foreign nationals with a TRP and/or a PRD must register with the Migration Service within 3 days after the date of issuance of these documents on the basis of the Spravka issued at the Migration Service upon receipt of a TRP or PRD.
The stamp of migration registration extension is put only on migration cards of foreign nationals from visa free countries. The stamp with indication of the validity is put on the reverse side of the card.
Absolutely! You must register with the migration service within 3 days after collecting the duplicate of your migration card.
They must first process a post-diploma vacation. After issuance of the Enrollment Order they must come to the PVD ASAP to process new registration.
An international student for non-compliance with the RF law may be expelled from the University with the imposition of a fine and be deported from Russia based on a court decision with a further ban on entering the Russian Federation for up to five years.
