RAS medal competition results revealed the best scientific achievements for 2016 and awards went to young scientists and students of Russian universities. 19 students, among them two representing SPbPU, were awarded medals and 25 000 rubles in prize money.

The RAS medal competition is held annually for the benefit of young scientists and students. Polytech students’ work has been recognized for years in a row. The RAS awards are meant to encourage young scientists to carry on their research and boost their careers.

The reward for the best achievements in machine building, mechanics, and control management went to Svetlana Petrenko, the second year Master’s student of the Institute of Applied Mechanics and Mathematics of SPbPU for modelling advection of chemical reaction fronts in solid bodies. Her work is dedicated to advection of flat and spherical fronts in chemical reactions for elastic and viscoelastic materials.

The PhD student of the Institute of Physics, Nanotechnologies and Telecommunications Pavel Trofimov was awarded for design and creation of devices, methods, and technologies in energy recovery electronic flow diagnostics.
