12 October 2022 Achievements 594

For the second year in a row, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University has consistently ranked among the country’s best universities according to the authoritative Times Higher Education.

Polytechnic University has steadily maintained its position in the top 3 in Russia and in the top 350 in the world. Competition among ranking participants intensified — this year 177 new entrants were added to the ranking, including 16 Russian ones.

The university demonstrated great achievements in the field of industrial research income and entered the top 200 of the world list. In the current situation, the fact of entering the second world top 100 universities, the strongest in the field of applied research, is the most important moment for Polytechnic University. It shows that we are capable of ensuring the global competitiveness of Russian companies. This goal lies at the heart of our Priority 2030 program. In 2022, thanks to the program’s support, we contributed to the creation of new products in the field of energy, microelectronics, pharmacology, commented Rector of SPbPU, RAS Academician Andrei Rudskoi.

Polytechnic University showed excellent dynamics in education (+82 positions in the world ranking) and research (+158 positions in the world ranking), primarily due to the growth of reputation.

The reputation growth in THE ranking is a matter for great pride for the university, because unlike in some other rankings, here the university cannot influence in any way on the experts polled, and only the best of the best are included in the sample. Last year there was a noticeable increase in the number of Polytechnic publications in top-quartile journals, and we can already see the effect. This year, despite the difficult situation, we continue to support quality publications, and many teams maintain ties with the global scientific community. We hope that the growth will continue, says Maria Vrublevskaya, Head of the Department of Strategic Planning and Development Programs at SPbPU.
