Associate Professor of the SPbPU Higher School of Atomic and Thermal Power Engineering of Andrey GUSAKOV and Assistant Professor of the School Elza ZAINULLINA became part of the International Academy of Refrigeration (MAX). The works of the Polytechnics are devoted to the intensification and study of heat transfer, which is of great importance for refrigeration technology. Last week, diplomas and certificates of corresponding members of the Academy were presented to our scientists.

Andrey Gusakov and Elza Zainullina became members of the International Academy of Refrigeration

The International Academy of Refrigeration (IAR) is a public organization uniting foremost scientists and specialists in the field of refrigeration and cryogenic technology. The Academy has more than 1800 members representing such countries as Germany, Italy, China, Poland, the USA, France, Finland, and others. 170 Russian companies, R&D institutes, universities, as well as foreign organizations are collective members of the IAC.

“Members of the Academy are interested in our unique technique of gradient heat measurement. The sensors we have developed can operate not only on water vapor and in air, we can carry out experiments with various freons, which is extremely promising for the development of refrigeration technology,” explained Andrey GUSAKOV. Now scientists at the Higher School of Atomic and Thermal Power Engineering are using this technology to study condensation on pipe surfaces. It helps to predict and prevent accidents, improve the safety of energy facilities.

The accedence of the Polytechnic scientists into the IAR will help with finding partners for the implementation of new projects and for the promotion of existing developments at the Academy’s website. For instance, SPbPU students study processes in heat pumps using an installation developed at ITMO University. As the teachers explain, heat pumps are now more and more broadly used, so it is important to train students with the use of modern stands.

“The International Academy of Refrigeration organizes conferences, holds symposia, and publishes a magazine that is included in the HAC list. At this site, scientists discuss essential problems of refrigeration and cryogenic technology, look for ways to solve them and test the results obtained. We will keep working on new projects,” summed up Andrey GUSAKOV.
