SPbPU has risen in the ranking of the Expert Analytical Center

On May 15, the results of the Expert analytical center’s ranking were announced. This year Polytechnic University improved its results in eight subjects: economics, mathematics, renewable energy, materials science, pharmacology, fuel, humanities, and social sciences.

The university also entered two new rankings — biomaterials and astrophysics. In all, the university is represented in 16 subject areas out of 17 existing and in 6 profiles out of 9, respectively.

SPbPU achieved the best result in social sciences, entering the top ten universities in the country in this area. There was also a big breakthrough in the humanities (15-16th place), pharmacology (12-14th place), and renewable energy (13-15th place).

The university retains its leading position in engineering sciences — just as last year, Polytechnic University was ranked 14th, but scored 8 points more.

The publication activity ranking evaluates universities on the basis of their research productivity in the previous four years, based on publications in the Scopus database. Rankings are published in sixteen subject areas and nine narrow sub-areas. All indicators are divided into four equally weighted blocks:

• «Demand/Quality» (the citation level of the university in the field)
• «Scale and sustainability of activity» (the share of publications of the university in the total volume of publications in the country and the Hirsch index of researchers)
• «Growth quality» (quality of citations, absence of unfair scientific practices)
• «Excellence» (representation among the best publications in international databases).
