SPbPU is among the five leaders in metallurgy in the URAP ranking

Polytechnic University has the strongest school in metallurgy and materials science, which is confirmed by high results in national and international rankings. At our university, we preserve the traditions of the old scientific school, combining them with modern technologies and capabilities. Our scientists and students have access to cutting-edge equipment and participate in joint projects with leading scientific groups and industrial partners. SPbPU graduates are in demand at the country’s largest metallurgical enterprises, making a significant contribution to the development of the industry and the country’s technological leadership. We are constantly updating our educational programs, providing specialist training that meets the most pressing industry needs, comments Andrei Rudskoi, Rector of SPbPU.

The URAP rating methodology is based entirely on academic productivity, which is based on the university’s publication activity. Among the evaluation indicators, the quality and quantity of publications, citations, and the effectiveness of international research cooperation are used.

Scientific groups, teachers and students of SPbPU regularly publish the results of their work in leading scientific journals, because the assessment of academic excellence allows us to demonstrate the level of scientific and educational potential of the university. Despite the difficulties faced by Russian universities in terms of publication activity, we at SPbPU try to support our employees in their efforts to realize their scientific potential, and also support scientists from other universities by providing the opportunity to publish in the periodicals of our university," said Maria Vrublevskaya, Vice Rector for Personnel Policy.

It should be recalled that the university’s positions in the Ranking by Academic Performance are also taken into account for the ranking of universities in the Global aggregated ranking, according to which SPbPU is among the top 3% of the best universities in the world.
