SPbPU strengthens its leadership in engineering sciences: first place in construction and growth in five areas according to the RAEX ranking

The Russian rating agency RAEX has released the fifth edition of the subject rankings of Russian universities, covering 167 universities from 45 regions. Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU) is included in the ranking in 19 subject areas out of 35. The university has strengthened its positions in five areas and maintained high results in seven others.

As a leading polytechnical university in the country, St. Petersburg Polytechnic traditionally demonstrates its best performance in the engineering and technical block.

SPbPU has once again confirmed its status as a polytechnical university with a diverse portfolio of educational programs that combine the legacy of the Russian engineering school with advanced project-based learning formats and digital competencies. Our leadership and high positions in the ranking in such traditional fields as mathematics, physics, construction, mechanical engineering and robotics confirm the fundamental nature of the training we provide. Moreover, today we see positive dynamics in the ranking in the areas of ’nuclear energy and technology’ and ’materials technology’, which are among the key scientific and technological development directions of the university, noted SPbPU Rector Andrei Rudskoi.

In the field of «Construction», SPbPU has held the leading position for the fourth consecutive year.

The first place among Russian universities in the RAEX ranking in the field of ’Construction’ for four years is the merit of the entire staff of the Institute of Civil Engineering (ICE), built on systematic work in key areas of education, science and practice-oriented personnel training. The stability of the university’s position in the ranking proves the effectiveness of the educational model aimed at training highly qualified specialists and future technological leaders of the construction industry. The Institute of Civil Engineering attracts the best applicants, develops talents, and also creates a professional intellectual environment for forming a new generation of Russian engineers, comments Marina Petrochenko, Director of the Institute of Civil Engineering at SPbPU.

In the field of «Mechanical Engineering and Robotics» SPbPU has held second place for several years..

This year, the university improved its positions in five areas at once. In «Nuclear Energy and Technology» and «Materials Technology», the university moved up to fourth place. St. Petersburg Polytechnic rose three positions in «Mathematics».

In its activities, SPbPU strives to create technological solutions that will be in demand in the future, and places at the forefront not only advanced technical characteristics of developments but also the potential economic effect that Russian enterprises will receive when they are implemented. A logical reflection of this development vector was the improvement of the university’s positions in the areas of «Management» and «Economics». In these categories, the university rose one position: from eighth to seventh place and from tenth to ninth, respectively.
