A delegation of Polytechnic University took part in the Interregional Conference of Rectors of Uzbekistan and Russia

Namangan State University hosted the Interregional Conference of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions of Uzbekistan and Russia, organized with the support of the Ministries of Education and Science of the two countries.

The event brought together representatives of the Presidential Administration, specialized agencies and more than 100 heads of leading universities to discuss key areas of partnership: teacher training, promotion of the Russian language and development of advanced engineering schools (AES).

Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Head of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, made a welcoming speech at the opening of the conference: «In practical work with Uzbek colleagues, we proceed from the fact that joint programs and projects should be focused, first of all, on promoting the implementation of state priorities of scientific and technological development, improving education systems, as well as on solving the problems of socio-economic development of the regions of Russia and Uzbekistan.»

The Conference paid special attention to engineering education — the panel discussion with the participation of representatives of the leading advanced engineering schools of Russia — St. Petersburg Polytechnic, Tomsk Polytechnic University became one of the central events. This expert community has been working closely together for a number of years and it is not the first time that they have gathered to discuss models of engineering education and the most effective formats of advanced schools.

Oleg Rozhdestvensky, Head of the SPbPU Office of Technology Leadership, presented the results of the SPbPU Digital Engineering NSP and the model of qualified partnership — interaction between a qualified customer and a qualified contractor, within the framework of which NSP students work on real orders from industry. Uzbek universities, including SPbPU’s partners — Fergana, Andijan, Namangan and Tashkent Technical Universities — have expressed their readiness to implement such practices.

Within the framework of the conference, the SPbPU delegation held meetings with key technological universities of Uzbekistan. Updated agreements were signed with Fergana State Technical University and Andijan State Technical Institute, which include joint internship programs and expert support for engineering schools. For the first time, Namangan State Technical University became a partner of SPbPU, which expanded the cooperation to the entire Fergana Valley.

Roadmap of cooperation with Samarkand State University for 2025-2027 was updated. The results of the conference confirmed the role of Polytech as a strategic partner of higher education institutions of Uzbekistan in the modernization of higher education. The agreements reached will become the basis for projects aimed at training personnel for high-tech industries of the two countries.

In continuation of the negotiations «on the margins» of the Conference, the SPbPU delegation visited a partner university — Fergana State Technical University. The main topic of the negotiations was the formation of individual educational trajectories, the combination of work for a particular customer and study, which became the basis of master’s degree programs at the FSTU.

The visit of the Polytechnic University delegation to Uzbekistan ended with a visit to the Islam Karimov TSTU — the leading technical university of the country, a strategic partner of SPbPU. Representatives of SPbPU had an opportunity to get acquainted with the energy faculty of TSTU, see a series of educational and scientific laboratories created with the support of industrial companies in Uzbekistan for practically-oriented classes and research within the framework of master’s and postgraduate studies. TSTU has created and put into operation a RES polygon, including various types of panels and energy generation devices. The polygon is connected with a fully autonomous «smart house» and a «smart» greenhouse powered by solar energy and acting as a training and production site for testing the latest technologies in energy and agriculture. Some of such technologies have already been implemented at the enterprises of the Republic of Moldova.
