Delegation from Shandong Jianzhu University visited SPbPU

Polytechnic University continues to develop cooperation with universities in China. A representative delegation from Shandong Jianzhu University headed by Yang Jingbo, Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, visited Polytechnic University. Shandong University is a multi-disciplinary engineering university specializing in construction and architecture.

The delegation of the Chinese university had a tour of the SPbPU campus: they visited the main building and library of SPbPU, the laboratory of Light Materials and Structures and the Polytechnic Supercomputer Center, as well as the laboratories of the Higher School of Cyber-Physical Systems Management. Colleagues from China noted the harmonious combination of historical buildings and modern high-tech laboratories.

A working meeting with Dmitry Arseniev, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of SPbPU, Vladimir Khizhnyak, Head of the International Cooperation Department, Evgeniya Satalkina, Head of the International Education Department, Olga Emelianova, Head of the Department of International Educational Programs and Academic Mobility of SPbPU, and representatives of specialized institutes was held in the Resource Center for International Services.

Dmitry Arseniev presented the potential of Polytechnic University, announcing the intention to sign an official memorandum of understanding with Shandong University: Our joint work has been bringing positive results for a long time. Employees of both universities actively interact with each other. In the last two years, representatives of Polytechnic University have made two working visits to Shandong University. We have common publications in SCOPUS, a joint grant was submitted to conduct 10 seminars on thermal power engineering, said the Vice-Rector about the fruitful interaction of both universities.

In the future, the universities intend to expand cooperation in high-tech areas such as new materials, industrial management and computer science. This creates prospects for close contacts, given China’s advanced achievements in artificial intelligence.

We are focusing on the development of engineering and technology areas. Through our cooperation with SPbPU, we will be able to increase the number of students studying at our universities and create opportunities to attract Russian students to our programs. Our common goal is to provide students of both countries with quality education that meets modern requirements and labor market trends, emphasized Yang Jingbo.

In addition, the parties discussed the creation of new joint educational programs of bachelor’s and master’s degrees, as well as the development of scientific projects. Chinese colleagues considered the possibility of creating short-term courses for students from SPbPU who want to get acquainted with educational programs in the PRC. Shandong Jianzhu students, in turn, were invited to participate in the SPbPU International Polytechnic Summer School again.
