Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Konstantin Mogilevsky visited SPbPU
On October 21, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Konstantin Mogilevsky visited Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, during which the issues of international cooperation of the university with partner countries were discussed.

Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Konstantin Mogilevsky held business talks with Rector of SPbPU, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrei Rudskoi at SPbPU. The conversation was attended by Dmitry Arseniev, vice-rector for international affairs, and Dmitry Karpov, academic secretary of SPbPU.

The negotiations were followed by a tour of the Main Academic Building. Konstantin Mogilevsky got acquainted with the gallery of outstanding polytechnic scientists and the Academic Council meeting room. Director of the Museum of SPbPU History Valery Klimov told about the main events related to Polytechnic University and demonstrated the most significant exhibits. The guest was very impressed with the museum’s exposition and suggested that Polytechnic join the working group whose activities are aimed at giving university museums an official status.

Next, Nina Suratova, Head of the Scientific Literature Department of the Information and Library Complex, told about the work of the IBC and the use of modern technologies in the organization of archives. Great interest was aroused by a visit to the rare book fund of the IBC. Konstantin Mogilevsky could not contain his surprise at the sight of real rarities, among which were books from the libraries of Sergei Witte and Peter Struve. The guest was amazed by the beauty of the White Hall of SPbPU and the amazing sounds of the Dutch organ, which was made by Johannus for SPbPU by special order.

In the Technopolis Polytech research building Konstantin Mogilevsky inspected the model of the SPbPU campus and the Polytech federal technopolis, learned about the capabilities of the Supercomputer Center Polytechnic and breakthrough technologies of the International Scientific and Educational Center for Additive Technologies. Svetlana Kalmykova, Director of the Center for Open Education of SPbPU, spoke about the prospects of online education.
Marianna Dyakova, Head of the Public Relations Department of SPbPU, presented the possibilities of Polytechnic’s TV studio. Konstantin Mogilevsky gave an interview at the TV studio.

I visited Polytechnic University for the first time. It is a very modern university, dynamically developing, aiming forward in terms of creating and using the most modern technologies, opening new buildings and laboratories. At the same time, Polytechnic is very careful to traditions, honoring its history. Responsibility to past generations gives birth to responsibility to future generations. We had a very productive conversation with Rector Andrei Rudskoi and his team, we outlined a number of tasks that relate to the international activities of the university and its presence in the information field

The visit of the Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation ended with the discussion of international cooperation issues and summarizing the results of the meeting.

We discussed the modernization of the training system for partner countries, in particular, how to organize the presence of Russian education in friendly countries. Issues related to the development of Russian-national universities were touched upon. At present SPbPU acts as a strategic partner and coordinator of the development programs of Russian-Armenian and Belarusian-Russian universities. Also, at a recent panel discussion in Bishkek, Polytechnic University signed an agreement and put forward a number of proposals for partnership with the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University. In addition, we discussed with the Deputy Minister how to improve the system of interaction with African universities through the mechanism of the Russian-African Network University, to strengthen youth cooperation, to build a system of training for the African region
