Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University has always been an active supporter of international academic mobility programs. Foreign professors continue to work at SPbPU even now, despite the difficult geopolitical situation. This year 179 foreign scientific and pedagogical workers from 40 countries signed labor contracts. Scientific and pedagogical workers from BRICS + countries: China, India, Iran, Egypt, Argentina, etc. actively participate in the competitive selection.

SPbPU is actively developing cooperation with friendly countries, said Vladimir Khizhnyak, Head of the International Cooperation Department of SPbPU. Leading scientists from these countries conclude labor contracts with the university, read innovative courses, engage in scientific activities, including working on mega-grants, promote the development of educational and scientific-technical cooperation with universities and companies of their countries.

This year foreign teachers are working in all institutes of SPbPU. Here are just a few examples. At the Higher School of Atomic and Thermal Power Engineering, Dr. Mandal Prasenjit from India will read the course «Renewable Energy Sources» at the international program. At the Graduate School of Advanced Digital Technologies, Dr. Amarjit Singh from India is supervising postgraduate students in «Product Quality Management. Standardization, Production Organization». At international programs at the Graduate School of Engineering and Economics, Associate Professor Danyali Sara from Iran teaches courses on «World Capital Market», «Risk Assessment in International Trade», «Budgeting in the Professional Sphere», etc. The courses are taught by Dr. Amarjit Singh from India. Dr. Mukesh Kumar Barua from India will work at the same school on international programs.

Basati Panah Mehdi

Currently, the Government of the Russian Federation is interested in having talented foreign graduates of Russian universities stay and work in Russia, as evidenced by a number of resolutions, decrees and changes in labor legislation. SPbPU institutes attract talented young people — foreign graduates of postgraduate programs and senior postgraduate students — to scientific and teaching activities. For example, Basati Panah Mehdi from Iran, who defended his PhD thesis this year, reads such courses as «Steam and Gas Turbines», «Steam and Gas Thermal Power Plants» and others at international educational programs at the Higher School of Power Engineering. In addition, he actively promotes cooperation between Polytechnic and leading Iranian universities. Nilan Jayasinghe, a postgraduate student from Sri Lanka, is actively engaged in scientific activities at the Higher School of High Voltage Power Engineering, studying unsteady relaxation processes in new thermoplastic polyimides and conducting practical classes.

Foreign employees of Polytechnic University not only give interesting lectures, conduct scientific research, and publish joint articles, but also write textbooks, develop courses for distance learning platforms, promote the development of students’ skills of effective scientific communication with colleagues, and familiarize them with foreign learning technologies.
