At the end of June, the Belarusian-Russian University (BRU) hosted an expert session of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia, at which interim results of the assessment of development program projects of four Slavic universities were summed up and steps for their revision were determined.

The session of the Ministry of Education and Science was attended by the Head of the Project Office "Slavic Universities", Deputy Head of the International Cooperation Office of SPbPU Nikita Golovin.

The session was attended by representatives of the Belarusian-Russian University (BRU), the Russian-Armenian University (RAU), the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University (KRSU) and the Russian-Tajik Slavic University (RTSU).

The expert session was preceded by an analysis of the development program projects of Russian-national (Slavic) universities for the period 2026–2030. In April—May 2026, experts from the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, «Intereducation» and Tyumen State University conducted a comprehensive expert review of the prepared documents, assessing their compliance with strategic goals and objectives, the quality of elaboration of key university policies, the interrelation of activities and resources, as well as the realism and ambition of target performance indicators.

The central topic of the expert session was the results of the assessment of development programs in three areas: the quality and substance of strategic documents, the system of target performance indicators and the positioning of Slavic universities. Special attention was paid to promoting universities in the «Three University Missions» ranking, issues of developing official websites, presence in social networks and mass media. The experts also discussed the organisation of work and functions of project offices, the methodology for calculating performance indicators and approaches to annual monitoring of the implementation of development programs.

Nikita Golovin visited the new BRU laboratories

Following the expert work, all four Slavic universities revised their development programs taking into account the recommendations received and submitted updated documents to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. The next stage will be their review by the Russian Academy of Sciences and defence at a meeting of the Commission for the Development of Russian-national (Slavic) universities.

During his visit to the Belarusian-Russian University, Nikita Golovin familiarised himself with the new research and educational laboratories of BRU and discussed with colleagues the implementation of joint projects between SPbPU and BRU. Particular interest was aroused by the Pilot Demonstration Centre «Industry 4.0», created within the framework of the UN Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) project «Promoting the introduction of fourth industrial revolution technologies in the Mogilev region of Belarus». The centre is equipped with modern collaborative robots, CNC machines, five-axis machining centres, interactive production systems and other high-tech equipment that makes it possible to train specialists for the digital industry.

The expert session at the Belarusian-Russian University became an important stage in the preparation of development programs for Slavic universities up to 2030.
