Meetings with Representatives of China Southeast University and Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee took place in SPbPU
At the end of May 2016, ,SPbPU saw meetings with representatives of Southeast University (China) and Vice-Rector of Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (India), Sandeep Singh in the course of the “International Polytechnic Week”.
The Southeast University delegation (China) consisted of of Shen Tsung, the vice-rector; Zhao Lindu, the director of the Institute of Economics and Management; Mae Hancheng, the director of international collaboration department; Zhang Tong, the deputy director of the Institute of Architecture; Huang Zi, the deputy director of the Institute of Energetics and Environment; Wang Bing, the deputy director of the Institute of Humanities. The delegation visited SPbPU to seek cooperation and discuss mutual interests.
It should be noted that partnership relations are growing rapidly between SPbPU and universities of the People's Republic of China. Just recently there have been meetings with representatives of Zhejiang University, Tsinghua University, Beijing Research Institute of Remote Sensing, Ocean University of China, etc. In addition, a delegation from Xinjiang University is to visit SPbPU on the basis of which the Russian Language Resource Center was opened three months ago.
The main subjects discussed during the course of Russian-Chinese negotiations were the issues of educational and scientific collaboration, joint research, participation of students from both universities in academic mobility programs, summer schools and semester exchanges.
D.G. Arsenev, the vice-rector for international relations of SPbPU, pointed out that the collaboration with China is one of the top priority trends and a strategic course of the Polytechnic University. Employees of the International Relations Department of the Institute of Humanities, SPbPU study People’s Republic of China and train sinology specialists, who help SPbPU pursue a policy of collaboration with the Celestial Empire. During the business visit, the Southeast University delegation also attended the International Graduate School of Management.
At the meeting with Sandeep Singh, the vice-rector of Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (India), different capabilities of collaboration between the universities were discussed, for instance, academic mobility, professor and student exchange, joint research projects.
Sandeep Singh pointed out that Indian students are interested in getting Russian education, which has a good reputation due to its technical achievements and innovative developements. The Indian Government supports such initiatives.
It should be noted that Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee and SPbPU are the members of the Russian-Indian University Association. In that context, collaboration of our universities should develop on a mutual basis and as part of the international network.
The meeting in the Polytechnic University resulted in an agreement to develop in the nearest future a mutual Cooperation Road Map and to sign a bilateral cooperation contract.

Southeast University was founded in 1902. It is located in Nanjing, province Jiangsu. According to 2015 statistics, more than 45 000 people study in the university. They obtain education in the field of Electrotechnics, Functional Materials and Chemistry, Mechanic Engineering, Information Technology, Programming Support, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Transportation, Health Care, Biology, Medical Equipment, Economics, Management, Linguistics, Law, Physics and Mathematics. For the moment around 5500 teachers give lectures in the Chinese university. There are 64 Bachelor’s degree programs, 206 Master’s degree programs and 109 PhD programs.
Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (India) was founded in 1847. Today, more than 8000 students study there in 25 faculties (Architecture, Applied Science, Chemical Engineering, Biomechanics, Civil Engineering, Earth Science, Mechanical and Industrial Production, etc.) There are 12 Bachelor’s degree programs, 18 PhD programs, 5 integrated educational programs, centers of cutting-edge technologies. Problems of ecological safety are given special care at Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (India).
