International Summer: Polytechnic students get acquainted with Russia at a summer camp

International students of the preparatory faculty of Polytechnic University from more than 10 countries visited the excursions, made friends and immersed themselves in the culture of St. Petersburg.

A bright and eventful summer has come to an end for international students of Polytechnic University. The summer camp, organized for young people from abroad, became a sea of unforgettable impressions, new knowledge and strong friendship. Participants from India, Pakistan, Guinea-Bissau, Nigeria, Angola, Cameroon, Egypt, Algeria and many other countries spent their holidays exploring Russia and St. Petersburg.

The camp program was designed so that every day would bring new discoveries. The students got acquainted with the splendor of the Northern Capital — from famous palaces and parks to cozy courtyards and embankments. Trips around the region allowed them to see other pearls of the Leningrad region.

Special attention was paid to deep immersion in culture. For students from Pakistan, for example, a special interactive lecture «St. Petersburg: historical and modern mysteries of the northern capital» was held.

This summer, the children took a virtual journey from the founding of the city by Peter the Great to its modern appearance, learned about iconic museums, theaters and architectural masterpieces, and also discovered the beauty of the suburbs of Peterhof, Tsarskoye Selo and Pavlovsk. The meeting ended with an exciting quiz, which helped consolidate new knowledge.

But the main result of the summer, of course, was friendship without borders. Language barriers easily collapsed during joint games, quests and informal evenings, giving way to sincere laughter and mutual understanding. The summer camp once again showed that, despite the differences in cultures and traditions, all Polytechnic students are one big and friendly team.
