Liu Wei, a graduate of SPbPU, visited her Alma Mater as an Education Ambassador
The Secretary General of the Institute of Russia at Tsinghua University, Liu Wei, paid a working visit to Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. Tsinghua University is a leading Chinese university and a long-standing strategic partner of SPbPU. Every year, universities hold many events, and our cooperation covers a large number of areas of activity.
The visit was especially symbolic because the day before, Liu Wei, a graduate of St. Petersburg State University, was awarded the honorary title of Ambassador of the Russian education. Rector of SPbPU, Academician of the RAS Andrei Rudskoi congratulated his Chinese colleague on the honorary award.
A working meeting dedicated to the strategic development of partnership between the two leading technical universities was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
The parties agreed to update the strategic partnership agreement concluded in 2014 in order to give a new impetus to cooperation. The discussion focused on specific areas for collaboration: from energy, biomedicine and urban studies to the development of joint educational programs and corporate training programs. In addition, Liu Wei visited the laboratories of the Graduate School of Management of Cyber-Physical Systems and met with Chinese graduate students who shared their impressions of studying at SPbPU.
Liu Wei expressed deep appreciation for the hospitality and shared her impressions of the visit: «This visit was extremely eventful and productive. The title of Education Ambassador that I have received is a great honor and responsibility. I am leaving with the firm conviction that our universities must bring cooperation to a qualitatively new level. I am confident that the updated strategic agreement will open a new chapter in the relations between our universities.»
Dmitry Arseniev, Vice Rector for International Affairs at SPbPU, in his turn, stressed: «It is a great honor for us to see Liu Wei at Polytechnic University and it is especially valuable that she will now represent the interests of Russian education in China in the honorary status of Ambassador. I am sure that her enthusiasm and deep understanding of both sides will help us significantly intensify our joint projects in a wide range of promising areas.»
The visit laid a solid foundation for the further expansion of many years of fruitful cooperation, outlining clear outlines of joint work for the near future.
