Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University presented its educational programs at the international exhibition A2 International Education Fairs. The events were held in the Moroccan cities of El Jadida, Rabat, and Casablanca, as well as in Tunisia, attracting over 6,500 prospective applicants, their parents, and representatives of recruitment agencies in total.
At the exhibition, SPbPU staff presented the university’s educational programs and conducted consultations for more than 1,400 interested applicants. Guests showed the greatest interest in fields related to computer technology, artificial intelligence, engineering, medicine, and international business.
Simultaneously in Casablanca, the grand opening of the «Polytech-Global» Russian Language Center took place. The center was created to prepare Moroccan citizens for admission to Russian universities and for taking tests in Russian as a foreign language. The project was implemented by SPbPU in collaboration with MTA Global company and International Solutions LLC.
At the opening ceremony, Consul of the Russian Federation in the Kingdom of Morocco Anton Sharagov delivered a welcoming speech. Participants of the event, including diplomats and heads of associations of Moroccan graduates of Russian universities, emphasized the importance of such a center for popularizing Russian education. They noted that the project allows applicants to prepare thoroughly for studying in Russia right in their home country. Chairman of the Moroccan Association of Graduates from Universities and Institutes of the Former Soviet Union, Fakiri Mohammed, spoke about the importance of receiving a quality education at leading universities as the first step towards a successful career. General Director of International Solutions LLC, Sergey Makarov, expressed confidence that opening such centers is a promising form of popularizing Russian education abroad.
For the guests at the opening, in an online format, Director of the Graduate School of International Educational Programs, Viktor Krasnoshchekov, spoke about the roadmap for the development of the Russian Language Center. It includes lectures, as well as testing of listeners in Morocco by university staff with the issuance of Polytech certificates. For Moroccan applicants, such a center is an opportunity not only to receive professional Russian language training but also to learn all the current information about bachelor’s and master’s programs implemented at SPbPU.
For Tunisia, the possibility of opening preparatory courses or a Russian language department is also being explored. SPbPU’s strategy in the region includes intensifying informational work to attract talented applicants.
Participation in the exhibitions and the opening of the center mark another turn in the development and promotion of Russian education in African countries and open up additional opportunities for international students wishing to receive a quality engineering education at one of Russia’s leading technical universities.
