SPbPU at a round table with a strategic partner - Russian-Armenian University

The Polytechnic University took part in the round table "Development of the scientific and technical potential of the Russian-Armenian University through the development of cooperation with leading Russian universities and scientific organizations." The event was held in the format of an online conference and became a continuation of a joint round table with Slavic universities, which was organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and Slavic universities of the CIS countries.

A plenary session and panel discussions were held within the framework of the round table. Representatives of the relevant departments of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Russian Academy of Sciences, leading Russian universities and institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences and representatives of the Russian-Armenian (Slavic) University (RAU) took part in the round table. Deputy Director of the Department of State Scientific and Technical Policy of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Viktor ANDRIANOV addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. 

Peter the Great St.Peterburg Polytechnic University that in 2014 was an expert for the Russian-Armenian University on the issue of working out, launching and maintaining the Development Program, took an active part in the work of the round table. Dmitry ARSENIEV, SPbPU Vice-Rector for International Affairs, presented a project aimed at supporting the development program of Slavic universities. “In this difficult time, it is necessary to use all resources to support our Armenian colleagues and, first of all, our outpost in Armenia - the Russian-Armenian University. We are ready to provide comprehensive assistance, continue to develop cooperation and look for new ways of interaction”, - Dmitry Arseniev underlined. 
SPbPU presented specific proposals for expanding collaboration between SPbPU and RAU in the field of modernization and increasing the competitiveness of education, the development of educational programs, research areas and youth scientific and technical initiatives.

On behalf of the RAU authorities, Vice-Rector for Science Pargev AVETISYAN welcomed the participants. He underlined that it is necessary to strengthen the integration of Russian and Armenian universities. Specifically, the RAU Vice-Rector noted the great support of SPbPU and the active development of cooperation between the Polytechnic and the Russian-Armenian Universities in recent years.

The Polytech and the Russian-Armenian University already have rich experience of cooperation in the field of telecommunication systems, physics, biotechnology, joint educational programs, conferences and publications. Representatives of specialized SPbPU departments made detailed proposals on the development of partnership. The scientific director of SPbPU Higher School of Applied Physics and Space Technologies Sergey MAKAROV spoke about the prospects for the development of cooperation between the Polytechnic University and RAU in the field of physics and telecommunication technologies. Andrei VASIN, Director of SPbPU Institute of Biomedical Systems and Biotechnology proposed promising areas of cooperation in biomedicine. Deputy Head of the SPbPU NTI Center "New Production Technologies", Program Director of the “Boiling Point Polytech” Sergei SALKUTSAN presented the possibilities of SPbPU NTI Center in training professionals for digital economy. Director of the Higher School of International Educational Programs Viktor KRASNOSCHEKOV spoke about the possibilities of developing cooperation between SPbPU and RAU in the field of studying and teaching Russian language and culture. And, finally, the Head of the SPbPU Department of Scientific and Technical Activities Sergey ZVEREV presented the prospects for cooperation development with RAU in the field of youth scientific and technical activities.

In total, over 40 presentations were made within the framework of the round table. It covered a wide range of areas for cooperation between Russian universities and research centers with the Russian-Armenian University. As a result of the event, the participants noted a significant number of opportunities for the development and strengthening of bilateral relations.
