A representative delegation from Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, led by Dmitry Arseniev, Vice Rector for International Affairs, held the «Polytechnic University days in Indonesia». The program of the visit, which included official visits, signing ceremonies, lectures, scientific discussions and business competitions, was aimed at reaching a qualitatively new level of scientific and educational cooperation with the country’s leading universities — Gunadarma University and the University of Indonesia.

St. Petersburg Polytechnic University Delegation Held Polytech Days in Indonesia

The program started in Jakarta, where, as part of the business program, the polytechnics took part in a major educational exhibition organized by Rossotrudnichestvo. They presented the university’s main, including joint, and short-term programs to representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology of Indonesia, heads of local universities and recruiting agencies. The SPbPU delegation also took part in one of the largest educational exhibitions in the Republic, the International Indonesian Educational Exhibition Forum in Surabaya.

Educational Exhibition in Jakarta

The central events of the Polytechnic University days in Indonesia were the work on the campuses of partner universities. An open lecture on «Synergetic interaction of markets and minds: a cross-cutting approach to the study of a human-centered closed-loop economy in Indonesia and Russia» was held at Gunadarma University for undergraduates of the International Management program. A round table was held in the Technopark of Gunadarma University following the results of the joint cross-cultural project «Smart Agribusiness and digital Marketing of Marigolds», implemented since 2023 in cooperation with the Faculty of Economics of Gunadarma University. The participants discussed the results in the field of agriculture and digital marketing, adjusted the roadmap and set goals for 2026.

Round Table on the Results of the Joint Cross-Cultural Project Held

The program at Gunadarma University culminated in an International Seminar on Internationalization, during which the members of the SPbPU delegation made presentations in their respective fields: the implementation of corporate master’s degree programs in cooperation with industrial partners, scientific and educational areas of SPbPU institutes and the potential for joint programs.

International Colloquium

At the end of the seminar, an official ceremony was held to sign an agreement on the establishment of a Joint Russian-Indonesian training Center in the field of engineering and entrepreneurship, as well as an agreement on the implementation of a joint dual master’s degree program.

Summing Up the Results of the International Business Project Competition

The day continued with a solemn ceremony summing up the results of the International Business Project Competition «International Business Pitch Fest 2025» on the theme «AI-based digitalization to achieve sustainable development goals». It was attended by 12 of the strongest student teams from Russia, Indonesia and Uzbekistan.

Signing of the Agreement on the Establishment of a Joint Russian-Indonesian Personnel Training Center

Cooperation between SPbPU and Gunadarma University demonstrates dynamic development, said Dmitry Arseniev, Vice Rector of SPbPU. In a short time, we have reached the level of creating a joint center and dual degree programs, successfully developing a scientific project, and ensuring youth cooperation. This is a vivid example of how effective interuniversity partnership meets the challenges of the global economy and promotes the participation of Polytechnic University scientists in relevant scientific and socially significant international collaborations.

Meeting at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of Indonesia

The program of the Polytechnic University days in Indonesia continued with a high—level meeting. A delegation from SPbPU arrived at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology of Indonesia to meet with the Minister, Prof. Brian Iuliarto and the heads of key departments of the Ministry, where they discussed the possibilities of opening joint dual degree programs, presented the potential of the International Olympiad Open Doors: Russian scholarship project for the education of talented international students in Russia and the implementation of joint scientific research.

Minister Brian Iuliarto emphasized the strong ties between our countries in the field of education and scientific research. For his part, Dmitry Arseniev, Vice Rector for International Affairs at SPbPU, expressed confidence in further intensification of relations, including increased academic mobility of teachers and students and the implementation of new joint programs with universities in Indonesia.

The events of the Polytechnic University days in Indonesia were simultaneously held at one of the country’s oldest and most prestigious public universities — the University of Indonesia. The central event was an official meeting with the university administration and the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding and the Student Exchange Agreement.

Polytech Days in Indonesia Continued at the University of Indonesia

The polytechnics presented the university’s potential in the fields of industrial artificial intelligence, applied mathematics, industrial AI and data engineering. The parties also agreed on joint research and publications, the preparation of a monograph on industrial AI, the submission of grant applications and the opening of a double degree program based on the master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering in Business.

Open Lecture by Dmitry Plotnikov

An open lecture on «Models of interaction between land use and transport» was held for staff and students of the University of Indonesia, in which they emphasized that modern mathematical modeling based on spatial data makes it possible to predict population movements and increase the efficiency of transport networks. The lecture participants agreed that a technological leap is needed for Indonesia’s urban development, including the integration of GIS into the transport planning process.

Meeting with the United Cities and Local Governments Association

Special attention was paid to the development of joint research in the field of smart cities. The interdisciplinary team of SPbPU has been successfully cooperating for several years with Mohammed Ali Berawi, Head of the Center for Sustainable Infrastructure Development, Professor at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Indonesia, Honorary Doctor of SPbPU. During the visit, the parties finalized the application for a megagrant for the project «Development of methodological foundations, computational models and decision-making platforms for designing human-centered infrastructure of urban agglomerations.»

Professor Ali Mohammad Berawi, Honorary Doctor of SPbPU noted: This cooperation is a national strategic need. A scientific approach to the integration of land use and transport is an urgent need for sustainable urban development in Indonesia.
