Polytechnic University representatives discussed cooperation in IT with colleagues from Vietnam

Polytechnic University participated in the Russian-Vietnamese Student IT Forum, organized by the Committee for External Relations of Saint-Petersburg with the support of the Association of Vietnamese Citizens in Russia. The main goal of the event was to develop scientific and friendly relations between the youth of the two countries, in particular — in the relevant areas of the IT industry.

The forum was held online and brought together more than 100 participants from universities, committees and companies in St. Petersburg and a number of cities in Vietnam on a virtual platform. SPbPU was represented by the director of the Higher School of Cyber-Physical Systems and Control SPbPU, professor Vyacheslav SHKODYREV and graduate student of the Institute of Computer Science and Technologies NGUEN Thi Thu Dung. The main participant from the Vietnamese side was the University of Finance and Technology (FPT), part of FPT Group, Vietnam’s largest IT company.

The international event was opened by Mr. Vyacheslav KALGANOV, Vice-chairman of the Committee for External Relations of Saint-Petersburg, who pointed out that Russia had been paying special attention to the use of IT technologies and domestic and foreign innovations in the private and public sectors over the past two years. Deputy Rector of FPT NGUEN Xuan Phong in his return greeting noted the high competence of Russian universities in the field of computer science. FPT always supports cooperation with Russian universities, especially St. Petersburg universities. We consider international cooperation an important direction of our work, emphasized NGUEN Xuan Phong.

As part of the forum’s work, representatives of SPbPU made presentations on relevant topics. Professor Vyacheslav SHKODYREV presented cyber-physical systems as a new technological platform for promising breakthrough technologies. And postgraduate student of ICST NSUEN Thi Thu Dung told about a multi-factor model of analysis and evaluation of the quality of socio-economic systems on the example of the area of Vietnam. The presentations were welcomed with interest by the forum participants.

The development of cooperation with the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is an important area of SPbPU international activities. To date, Polytechnic University implements partnerships with 7 universities and organizations in Vietnam, and is working to establish new contacts. In particular, there are plans to create a work plan and conclude a cooperation agreement with the Financial and Technological University of Vietnam in the near future.
