On December 4, Rector of SPbPU Andrei Rudskoi signed a cooperation agreement with Sanoat Energetika Guruhi (Saneg) — one of the largest oil and gas companies in the Republic of Uzbekistan. The signing took place online. Saneg is the leader of the oil and gas industry in Uzbekistan. The company employs more than 10 thousand employees. It accounts for about 80 percent of oil production in the country.

Saneg has subsoil use rights to 103 oil and gas fields. The total volume of production in 2022 was 586.4 thousand tons of oil and 1 billion cubic meters of gas. The company’s production facilities are located in the cities of Karshi, Mubarek, Andijan, Navoi and Ustyurt. In addition to oil and gas production, the company is engaged in processing of raw materials into gasoline, diesel fuel, oil, aviation kerosene and a number of other products.

Uzbekistan is one of the key countries for Polytechnic, the partnership with which is developing very effectively and successfully. SPbPU works with leading universities of Uzbekistan. The strategic partners are Tashkent State Technical University named after Islam Karimov, Samarkand State University, Andijan Mechanical Engineering Institute, Fergana Polytechnic Institute — and more than 15 other universities in the country.

Energy in general and the fuel and energy complex as a part of it are among the most promising areas for the development of cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan. Polytechnic University, being the leading technical university in Russia and the undisputed leader of engineering education, should play an important role in the development of industrial and scientific cooperation projects between our countries. Today, together with Saneg, the largest subsoil user in Uzbekistan, we are becoming a kind of pioneer, we are opening a new page in the interaction of Russian university science and education with the industrial sector of Uzbekistan, — Rector of SPbPU Andrei Rudskoi said at the signing ceremony.

Saneg will participate in the development program of the Advanced Engineering School «Digital Engineering». SPbPU will be used to assess and develop models for the development of professional competencies of Saneg employees, as well as to develop and implement in the interests of the company additional professional education and vocational training programs in the following areas: oil and gas, geology, industrial safety, human resources management, innovation, energy saving, and digitalization.

The signed agreement is a concrete result of long systematic work of our teams, an opportunity for all of us to cooperate at a new system level: both in terms of personnel training and retraining, and in terms of transforming the accumulated experience into breakthrough projects and products for the benefit of our peoples. The next step will be the opening of a joint international center, on the basis of which we will continue moving towards a strategic partnership between Polytechnic University and Saneg, said Andrei Rudskoi.

Khurshed Hodzhimetov, Deputy General Director for HR and Organizational Development of Saneg, after signing the agreement, said: Polytechnic University has a great experience of working with oil and gas companies, and this is what attracted us. Today the university, among other things, is one of the largest research centers in Eastern Europe. We plan to build joint systematic work in the field of training specialists in new areas of oil refining and petrochemicals, in the field of industry technologies and knowledge-intensive innovations. The focus is also on joint R&D in the field development projects with complicated conditions and development of digital technologies.
