Slavic Horizon Expands: Polytechnic gets acquainted with Russian-Tajik Slavic University

The participation of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University in the Slavic Universities project is expanding — since January 1, 2025, SPbPU has become the coordinator of the Russian-Tajik Slavic University (RTSU). The main task of Polytechnic University is to provide scientific, methodological and resource support for the implementation of measures to improve the efficiency of activities and support the development program of this university. In order to get acquainted with the partner university, its team, personnel and resources, a representative expert group of Polytechnic University made a working visit to RTSU in early February.

The visit of Polytechnic Universityc’s extended expert team to RTSU was the first close acquaintance with the university’s development team, leaders of scientific teams, and resource base. In the course of the visit, the implementation of the current development program was monitored and the SPbPU-RTSU joint work plan for 2025 was agreed upon.

SPbPU experts had individual tasks — to assess the current state of affairs at RTSU in their area and to develop recommendations on the activities of the RTSU Development Program for 2025 to improve the efficiency of RTSU and strengthen its position as one of the leading universities in Tajikistan.

Russian-Tajik (Slavic) University, as a member of the community of Slavic universities, is positioned as a center of the Russian language and Russian culture in Tajikistan, promotes the influence of the best traditions of Russian education on the socio-cultural and technological environment of the region, strengthening friendly and partnership relations between the peoples of Central Asia.

All these tasks will form the basis of the Plan of joint work and, subsequently, the development program of RTSU. RTSU leaders headed by Rector Prof. Mashrab Faizullo held a number of working meetings and discussions with the SPbPU delegation. SPbPU experts held meetings at the faculties, studied the peculiarities of teaching, curricula, organization of business processes of management of scientific and educational activities of the university, issues of implementation of personnel and youth policy.

One of the important projects of RTSU planned to be implemented in the near future is the reconstruction of RTSU general education school. According to the reconstruction program and the order of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, the school should open profile classes with advanced study of chemistry, biology, physics and computer science, as well as provide additional classes for students in engineering disciplines. These tasks require comprehensive solutions for equipping the corresponding specialized classrooms and laboratories.

As part of the visit, the results of the joint educational project were solemnly summed up: in the fall of 2024, 16 school teachers from Tajikistan underwent an additional educational program on the basis of SPbPU. Minisa Abdullaeva, First Vice-Rector, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of RTSU, congratulated the graduates on the successful completion of the program and noted the importance of continuous professional development of teachers and educators.

Summarizing the results of the visit, Nikita Golovin, head of the Slavic Universities Project Office, said, RTSU is a successful, established university, a leader in its region. The plans for its development are quite ambitious, and we realize how much we have to work together. We respect how thoroughly our colleagues from RTSU approach to building their strategy of activity, how they work out plans and tasks, how they competently distribute resources. It is an honor and a pleasure for SPbPU to act as experts and assistants in this process.
