SPbPU and China's leading universities have agreed on joint internship programs

Dmitry Tikhonov, Vice-Rector for Additional and Pre-University Education, and Olga Emelianova, Head of the Department of International Educational Programs and Academic Mobility, paid a working visit to the SPbPU Representative Office in Shanghai. The purpose of the trip is to expand international academic and scientific cooperation, promote international professional development programs in the form of internships, and present the new project «SPbPU Center for International Internships» to the leaders of the Chinese educational market.

The Polytechnic delegation held several meetings and negotiations with potential partners, including Ambright Education Group, China-SCO University of Commerce and Economics, Shanghai University of Science and Technology, Harbin Polytechnic University.

The partners discussed current areas of cooperation, the situation in the Chinese education market, and presented the SPbPU International Internship Center project. The productive dialogue resulted in concrete agreements.

An agreement has been reached with the Shanghai University of Science and Technology to launch a joint international professional development program with an internship module in the field of Technological Entrepreneurship. The agreement and the terms of cooperation are currently being negotiated.

The parties agreed with the China-SCO University of Commerce and Economics to start developing an international professional development program for employees of Chinese industrial companies.

We are glad that the idea of an internship program in the form of international internships, implemented with the support of the Priority 2030 program, has found a response from our partners. During the trip, we managed to discuss the launch of new tracks, as well as the potential format of internships for employees of foreign companies, commented Dmitry Tikhonov, Vice Rector of SPbPU.

With the support of the Priority 2030 program, we have managed to implement the International Internship Center project, which aims to attract foreign talented researchers to SPbPU and, thus, develop international scientific and educational cooperation between the university and promote the brand of SPbPU as one of the best Russian scientific schools abroad. Communication with Chinese colleagues has confirmed that we are moving in the right direction — the demand for such programs is constantly growing, added Olga Emelianova, Head of the Department of International Educational Programs. As part of the meetings we have held, we have managed to come up with concrete projects that, hopefully, will be implemented in 2026.

Cooperation with leading Chinese universities and companies such as Ambright Education Group is strategically important for SPbPU. It opens up new opportunities for academic exchange, joint research and strengthening the position of Russian education in the international arena.
