SPbPU at the International Eighteenth Annual Scientific Conference at RAU
In December, the delegation of Polytechnic University took part in the Eighteenth Annual International Scientific Conference at the Russian-Armenian University. The conference gathered 550 leading scientists and experts to discuss topical issues of science and education.

Dmitry Arseniev, Vice Rector for International Affairs of SPbPU, Corresponding Member of the RAS, emphasized the importance of scientific and educational cooperation between Russia and Armenia in his video address at the opening ceremony: The RAU Scientific Conference is a unique platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas in the fields of natural and technical sciences, engineering, humanities and economic disciplines, as well as jurisprudence. The composition of the Conference participants — from talented students to respected academicians — gives us confidence that the scientific community unites the efforts of several generations for scientific search and development of innovations, which is especially important in the conditions of rapid changes and challenges of our time
.
For many years SPbPU has been a strategic partner of RAU, an expert and coordinator of development programs within the framework of the Slavic Universities project. This year 25 leading researchers of SPbPU presented their reports in various sections, both in natural sciences and social and humanitarian areas.

Professor of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications Vitaly Gasumyants gave a lecture on «Method of analyzing the features of electron transport in high-temperature superconductors» and told about fractional and quantum Hall effect. Prof. Nikolay Sudar introduced the students to «Electrical Durability of Organic Electronics Materials». Students had a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of complex analysis presented in an accessible and understandable form. The virtuoso skill of the lecturers, their deep understanding of the topic and concise but convincing presentation of the material made a real impression on both specialists and students.

At the section «History», Professor Anastasia Lisenkova, Director of the Higher School of Social Sciences, presented the report «Fijital World: Imagination and Emotion in the Evolution of Artificial Intelligence», focusing on the fact that in modern historical knowledge lacunas associated with ambiguously interpreted historical events become the space of imagination, and historical facts are interpreted and constructed in the algorithmic bias of generative systems depending on the dominant discourse embedded in them. Professor Svetlana Ulyanova of the Higher School of Social Sciences highlighted new approaches to the study of the history of Soviet sport, emphasizing that sport reflects and embodies key features of culture and civilization, supports the «spirit of society» and reflects its distinctive national identity.

At the section «Biological and Chemical Sciences» scientists from Peter the Great SPbPU and RAU presented the results of the research on the topic: «TRPC6 channel activator — a promising pharmacological solution for Alzheimer’s disease», conducted within the framework of a joint project of the two universities. Alexandra Brodskaya, Associate Professor of IBS&B, spoke about a new method of delivering small interfering RNA (siRNA) using special nanocapsules made of polylactide, which help to efficiently deliver drugs to cells. In the study, the scientists proved that this method works well: it significantly reduces the multiplication of rotavirus in cells.

SPbPU professors visited the Department of Russian Language and Professional Communication headed by Associate Professor Karen Hakobyan and discussed the possibilities of further cooperation within the framework of networking in the direction of «Linguistics» at the undergraduate and graduate levels, exchanged experience with colleagues.

Colleagues from RAU expressed their readiness to participate in the scientific seminar, which is planned to be held by the Higher School of Linguistics and Pedagogy in the fall of 2025, as only in such a creative alliance integration in education occurs most effectively.
Anton Shaban, Senior Lecturer of the Graduate School of Industrial Management of the Institute of Industrial Management, Economics and Trade, presented a report on the topical topic «Strategic and operational marketing management in the era of artificial intelligence: opportunities and prospects» within the framework of the section «Management».
