SPbPU became a co-founder of the Green Union of the Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities

Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University became a co-founder of an academic union of «green» development of the Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities. The establishment procedure took place on June 30, 2023 in Qingdao (Shandong Province, China) at the site of China Petroleum University. The Green Union of the ASRTU is a non-profit non-legal organization established on a voluntary basis by universities — members of the Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities.

Together with SPbPU, 9 other Russian and 10 Chinese universities acted as co-founders. The Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities was established 12 years ago by 30 leading technical universities of the two countries. Our university was among the 15 founding universities from the Russian side. Today, the ASRTU is the largest platform promoting the development of a common educational space between Russia and China and providing opportunities for international cooperation in engineering education and advanced scientific research.

At the official ceremony, the Union’s charter, the logo, and the list of founding universities were discussed and approved. More than 50 heads of Chinese and Russian universities and representatives of higher education institutions, as well as more than 260 teachers and students witnessed the procedure of official signing of the Declaration on the establishment of the Union. The honor to sign the Declaration on behalf of SPbPU was given to Professor Pavel Romanov, curator of ASRTU, Director of the Secretariat of the Coordination Council of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation in the field education of «Engineering, Technology and Engineering Sciences».

A meeting was also held with the administrative and teaching staff of China Petroleum University (East China), where possible ways of developing cooperation between our universities were discussed. This year, the China Petroleum University celebrates its seventieth anniversary. At the solemn ceremony of the establishment of the Green Union Professor Pavel Romanov read out a congratulatory address addressed to the Rector of KNU Mr. Hao Fan and presented a gift from Polytechnic University.
