The delegation of SPbPU was represented by the Rector of the University A.I Rudskoy, Vice-Rector for International Relations D.G Arseniev, Head of Rector’s Administration Office V. P. Zhivulin. The negotiations took place at the Rector’s office of CUL.The British delegation included Vice-Chancellor Professor Paul Curran, Pro Vice-Chancellor (International) Professor Stanton Newman, Dean and Deputy Dean of the School of Engineering, Mathematics & Computer Science Professors Roger Crauch and Sanowar Hun and the Dean of Postgraduate Study Professor Kenneth Grattan.

Professor Paul Curran briefed all participants on the development strategy of City University London in the field of scientific research and educational programs, and also spoke about the university campus. Vice-Chancellor emphasized that thanks to the sustainable growth of their University and the fact that it was recognized as one of the leading universities in the UK, CUL became a member of the National Association, which includes such leaders as Imperial College London and six other British Universities. Professor Paul Curran highly appraised the partnership between our universities in the WC2 university network including the new IT club.

The Rector of SPbPU A.I. Rudskoy informed British colleagues of the participation of our University in the Program "5-100-2020”. In the context of increasing the international competitiveness, Andrey Ivanovich emphasized the importance of our strategic partnership in the field of scientific research (in particular, on the basis of the Supercomputing Center established in SPbSPU), joint publications in top-rated international scientific journals, higher-education teaching personnel exchange and the participation in joint educational programs and programs of academic and scientific mobility. CUL partners took great interest in the proposal of the Rector of SPbPU to turn to leading British companies working in the Russian market to provide financial assistance to graduate and post-graduate students participating in joint educational programs. In conclusion, A. I. Rudskoy invited students from CUL to take part in the International Polytechnic Summer School and the British scientist delegation to arrive on a return visit.

Having reviewed the scientific infrastructure of the School of Engineering, Mathematics & Computer Science Mathematics, our delegation met with Professor Konstantin Arkumanis, Honored Doctor of SPbSPU, who was until recently ProVice-Chancellor (International) of City University London. Professor Konstantin Arkumanis is very active in the field of propulsion engineering that is why the opportunity to cooperate with our university scientists in those areas were also discussed. Moreover, A. I. Rudskoy met with some graduates from Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University, currently enrolled in a CUL post-graduate program. Post-graduate students were keenly interested in their alma mater development. They were interested in new opportunities for young scientists, including the framework of the Project "5-100".

The delegation from our university received an invitation to the annual gala dinner at Mansion House on behalf of the Lord Mayor of London, Chancellor of City University London Alderman- Alderman Alan Yarrow. That dinner was the final event of the visit. It should be noted that the invitation to participate in that social event showed special recognition of the British partners. This is evident from the fact that our delegation was the only foreign delegation among four hundred guests.
