SPbPU implements scientific and educational cooperation in China

A number of activities aimed at maintaining and developing Polytechnic University’s partnerships with Chinese universities and companies are currently being implemented in China. On November 13, a delegation of SPbPU headed by Rector, Academician of the RAS Andrei Rudskoi visited modern high-tech companies with which the university plans to build long-term cooperation.

They discussed with Zhanjiang Management Company the directions of scientific and educational cooperation with universities, enterprises, industrial and innovation companies from Zhanjiang Science City, as well as the establishment of joint laboratories and centers for applied development. The management company solves the tasks of developing the innovation and investment ecosystem of Zhanjiang Science City.

It brings together 24,000 companies, 150 research institutes, 58 offices of multinational corporations, and 20 universities and research institutes. More than 400,000 highly qualified specialists work there.

Representatives of Polytechnic University visited the National Innovation Center of Excellence of the Yangtze River Delta (NICE), cooperation with which will significantly expand the range of projects already implemented with JITRI and NICE. The Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute (JITRI) is a leading applied research organization in China that promotes the study and commercialization of industrial technology advances in science and technology. JITRI is a key organization of NICE.

Tan Ruicong, Deputy Director of the National Innovation Center of Excellence, welcomed our delegation. He congratulated Andrei Rudskoi on his election as Chairman of the St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences:

This means that the scope of our future cooperation will extend from the school to the Academy of Sciences. This is the deeper partnership that everyone is looking forward to. I hope everyone will contribute to regional scientific research, industry and economy.

In 2021, SPbPU, NICE, which is an innovation platform supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the PRC, and JITRI signed a memorandum of cooperation on applied industrial research, technological innovation and development in the Yangtze River Delta region.

In 2022, SPbPU and JITRI signed an agreement to cooperate and establish the SPbPU International Office of Global Innovation Cooperation at the Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. In October 2023, Li Lianying, Chief Operating Officer of the Overseas Cooperation Department of the National Innovation Center of Excellence of Jiangsu Research Institute of Industrial Technology, paid a working visit to SPbPU.

At the meeting with representatives of the university, Li Lianying noted the importance of supporting ongoing projects, research and development. Involvement of companies and research institutes will help young scientists not only to develop, but also to implement their ideas in practice. Within the framework of the Polytechnic University delegation’s visit to China, the first agreement on a joint program to support the scientific activities of young scientists (postgraduates) of Higher School of Power Engineering with Tsinghua Automotive Strategy Research Institute (TASRI) was concluded.
