SPbPU participated in two conferences in Uzbekistan on education modernization and library development

Tashkent hosted the II International Scientific and Practical Conference «Library Ecosystem in the Era of Digitalization: the Role of Information and Library Institutions in Innovative Development of Society», organized by the Uzbekistan State Institute of Arts and Culture (UzSIAC). Alexander Plemnek, Director of the Information and Library Complex of SPbPU, in his report «Digital Cloud Services as a Means of Replenishing the Library Fund: Practical Perspective» told about the best practices of working with scientific databases and electronic educational systems, without which a modern university cannot exist.

SPbPU’s experience aroused great interest and discussion among the participants. Within the framework of the conference in Tashkent, separate talks were held with Sherbek Normatov, Head of the Department of Information and Library Systems, and Professor Marat Rakhmatulaev from Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi, with which SPbPU has partner relations since 2024 and which is rightfully considered the leading university of Uzbekistan in the field of IT technologies.

Around the same dates, the largest annual conference on information and library issues in Asia — Central Asia-2025 was held in Fergana, where Alexander Plemnek also took part. The conference was held under the auspices of the Agency of Information and Mass Communications under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the main organizer was the National Library of Uzbekistan.

The conference was attended by more than 500 participants from 11 countries. The Russian delegation was represented by heads of federal libraries and leading specialists in the field of digital transformation of scientific and technical libraries in Russia. Among the participants were heads of the world’s leading libraries, including those from Malaysia, Oman, Bulgaria, India, Russia, Tajikistan, Belarus, and others. Alexander Plemnek, Director of the Information and Library Complex of SPbPU, was invited as a key speaker of the Plenary Session of the Conference.

The representative forum was welcomed with great honor, as they can do only in the East. Khokim of Fergana region Khairullo Bozarov opened the conference, he also awarded the foreign participants with memorable awards at its closing. During three days 17 tracks on different areas of modern libraries’ activity were realized.

Alexander Plemnek presented the experience of Polytechnic University’s cooperation with Slavic universities in the development of one of the priority areas — the transfer and implementation of institutional repository technology as an essential element of the digital university infrastructure.

The wide network of library partnerships of the SPbPU IBC is designed to convey the unique experience of the SPbPU’s library. The SPbPU Digital Library has long been the flagship of digitalization of the university, an integral part of scientific and educational processes, closely integrated into the university management system.
