Peter the Great Polytechnic University and the Qingdao Hengxing University of Science and Technology, have launched together a joint educational program to prepare Chinese students for studying at SPbPU. The cooperation between the two universities began in 2018. During this time, the parties have come a long way from initial acquaintance to the creation of a joint preparatory faculty. The Share Company, a long-standing and reliable partner of SPbPU, provided great support in its opening.

Chinese applicants will be able to take preparation courses for admission to SPbPU in China

“In the context of the coronavirus pandemic, both educational methods and mechanisms for attracting new foreign students to the university are changing. China has been and remains a strategic region for Polytechnic University: today, about 20% of SPbPU international students are from China. Our programs of preparation for entering the university have always been in demand among Chinese applicants, and the opening of preparatory courses at the sites of SPbPU partner universities in China is a logical stage to which we have been systematically going for a long time,” commented Dmitry ARSENIEV, Vice-Rector for International Relations of SPbPU.

During the academic year, Chinese students will study the Russian language and disciplines in Russian in accordance with the specifics of the future speciality. The subjects will be taught by Chinese teachers based on the teaching materials of their colleagues from SPbPU. In addition, teachers of Polytechnic University will be giving weekly online lessons in the Russian language and selected disciplines, and at the end of the year they will come to Qingdao for full-time final examinations. Graduates of the program who will have successfully completed the course and received certificates will be admitted to SPbPU on a first-priority basis as undergraduate students.

Polytechnic University is planning to open a series of preparatory faculties in the PRC together with Chinese partners. This is facilitated by both a well-developed partner network with the largest universities and schools in China, and the presence of an official representative office in the PRC. Active work is already underway to create training centers in Shanghai, Xi’an, Qinghuangdao; negotiations with a number of key schools and universities in China are going.
