SPbPU presented its experience in training international students at the X International Congress of Teachers
The X International Congress of Teachers and Heads of Preparatory Faculties (Departments) of Russian Universities “The Pre-University Stage of Education in Russia and the World: Language, Adaptation, Society, Specialty” was held at RUDN University named after Patrice Lumumba. Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University was represented by a delegation from the Higher School of International Educational Programs, which shared its experience in pre-university training of international citizens.
At the ceremonial opening of the congress, Director of the Higher School of International Educational Programs of SPbPU Viktor Krasnoshchekov read out a greeting from SPbPU Rector Andrey Rudskoy. The address noted the role of Polytechnic University in international educational cooperation, as well as the importance of high-quality pre-university training of international citizens and the development of intercultural dialogue.
Pre-university training of international citizens is not only the study of the Russian language, but also an introduction to a new educational and cultural environment. Our task is to help future students adapt to studying at a Russian university and become part of the international academic community. To this end, it is important to combine high-quality language training with attention to the individual needs of each student and opportunities for intercultural communication,
noted Viktor Krasnoshchekov.
A separate area of work of the Higher School of International Educational Programs is preparing international bachelor’s graduates for admission to master’s programs. The pre-master's program is focused primarily on engineering and natural science fields. In addition to the Russian language, students take a general scientific cycle that includes specialized disciplines. At Polytechnic University, this area is developing not only as an educational program but also as a scientific community: the Higher School of International Educational Programs regularly holds conferences “Pre-Master's Training of International Citizens,” where participants present their research and exchange experience.
In parallel with the business program, the International Festival of International Student Youth “Unity in Friendship” was held. A student of Polytechnic University, activist of the Interclub Karin Bianki Makhlope from the Republic of South Africa, participated in the cultural program.
