Cooperation between SPbPU and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China) has developed further
The close cooperation between Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China) has become even more intense after signing the Agreement on cooperation in the field of education and science and the Agreement on student exchange in June 2017.
SJTU is one of the leading universities in China and it is ranked in the high positions in international university rankings. This university has very similar to the students training areas with SPbPU and it is one of the reasons for the mutual interest of Russian and Chinese colleagues in long-term cooperation. Vectors of further interaction were widely discussed during the visit in June of the delegation of SJTU to SPbPU. In particular, the mutual interest of the parties in the field of biotechnology was found. In October 2017, a delegation from the Higher School of Biotechnology and Food Technology of SPbPU visited the School of Agriculture and Biology of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

The delegation included the Drector of SPbPU Higher School of Biotechnology and Food Technology, Professor Yulia BAZARNOVA and Associate Professor Nadezhda Zhilinskaya. Representatives of SPbPU met with the Dean of SJTU School of Agriculture and Biology Professor Zhou PEY and discussed a roadmap for developing cooperation in the field of agrobiotechnology, environmental biotechnology, food processing and processing industry of the agro-industrial complex and food safety. A key aspect of the talks was signing of an Agreement on cooperation, which provides for the implementation of joint a double diploma Master's Degree programmes, academic mobility of students and faculty and the implementation of joint research projects. The signing ceremony was attended by Ms. Su Jing, Director of SPbPU Representative Office in Shanghai, faculty of the School of Agriculture and Biology of SJTU: Deputy Dean Professor Chenhuang Che, Assistant Director for International Relations Guo Liang, Professor Pu Jing, etc. On the same day the presentation of a new educational program “Molecular gastronomy: art & traditions” was held, the implementation of which will be carried out by the Higher School of Biotechnology and Food Technology within the framework of the International Polytechnic Summer School in July 2018.
Also during the visit, representatives of the Higher School of Biotechnology and Food Technologies participated in the international educational programme “One Belt - One Road: Sustainable Development of Modern Agriculture in China and Food Security" as part of an international school-seminar. Together with SPbPU representatives there were 32 participants from Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Romania, the Kingdom of Thailand, Belgium and France in this intensive educational programme. This program was implemented by the School of Agriculture and Biology of Shanghai Jiao Tong University in order to create an international platform for specialists in the field of agriculture and agrobiotechnology for a more in-depth study of the problems of China's agriculture, as well as establishing new ties and expanding cooperation among all participants.
During the trip to China, Professor Yulia BAZARNOVA and Associate Professor Zhilinskaya visited the SPbPU Representative Office in Shanghai. They carried out negotiations with the Representative Office Director Su Jing. The parties discussed the issues of developing, organizing and conducting international educational programmes for students and faculty of Chinese universities, public and private companies in the field of food biotechnology, storage of agricultural raw materials, quality control and safety of agricultural and food products.
