SPbPU signed a cooperation agreement with Kalemie University
Rector of the University of Kalemie, Professor Victor Kalunga Tshikala from the Democratic Republic of Congo, paid a working visit to St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. This event was an important step in strengthening cooperation between the two educational institutions.

The meeting was attended by First Vice-Rector Vitaly Sergeev, Vice-Rector for International Relations Dmitry Arseniev, PhD in Philology Natalia Trukhanovskaya, Head of the Project Office of the Russian-African Network University (RAFU) Consortium Maxim Zalyvsky, Secretary of the RAFU Presidium, Deputy Head of the International Cooperation Department Alla Mazina, and IMM&T Master’s degree student Alexis Banamvigi Ntambwe, Head of the Students’ Community of the DR of Congo.
Our goal is not only to establish cooperation, but also to be really useful in shaping the scientific agenda and knowledge exchange between Russian and African universities. We hope that your stay here will be the beginning of long-term and productive relations,

The participants of the meeting signed an agreement on cooperation in education and science between SPbPU and Kalemie University. This will enable the African university to gain experience of Polytechnic’s advanced teaching methods, research and educational practices, and will contribute to improving the quality of education.
Dmitry Arseniev spoke about the advantages that Polytechnic University offers to Congolese students. These include training of qualified specialists in technical sciences, energy, mechanics, computer science. Students will have access to modern educational programs. In addition, the winners of the Open Doors Olympiad will be able to study at SPbPU undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate programs free of charge.
Within the framework of the Russian-African University we have already organized information offices providing necessary information for students. We are ready to consider the possibility of creating a center in your region, which could become a key element in the development of educational ties between Russia and East Africa,

The participants of the meeting also signed a memorandum on joining the consortium «Russian-African Network University» of Kalemie University, which will expand the horizons of scientific interaction.
The creation of an information center and a Russian language center are important steps to support students and promote the Russian educational system in the Democratic Republic of Congo. We need to actively share information about opportunities to study in Russia to attract more students,
said Victor Kalunga Tshikala.

The participants discussed the organization of targeted training programs in areas such as oil and gas, mining and mechanical engineering. Victor Kalunga Tshikala visited Polytechnic University laboratories, where he familiarized himself with the scientific and technical achievements of the university.
SPbPU representatives invited the staff of Kalemie University to participate in the conference «Contribution of RAFU Universities to Sustainable Development of African Countries» to be held in December this year, as well as to become students of the RAFU Summer University in 2025.
