SPbPU signed three agreements on networked educational programs at the “Slavic Horizon 2026” summit

The IV annual Summit of Slavic Universities «Slavic Horizon 2026» opened at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Center for the Development of Education and International Activities («Interobrazovanie») and four universities (in addition to SPbPU): the Russian-Armenian, Belarusian-Russian, Russian-Tajik (Slavic) and Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after B. N. Yeltsin. The heads of the delegations presented the key elements of the development programs of the Slavic universities for 2026−2030, after which the participants of the meeting discussed how to turn these programs into working educational, scientific, managerial and youth projects.

For SPbPU, «Slavic Horizon» is not just an annual meeting of partners. With the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia, SPbPU performs the functions of coordinator of interaction with the Slavic universities and helps build sustainable mechanisms of cooperation between them.

Opening the summit, SPbPU Rector Andrei Rudskoi emphasized that the current stage is of particular significance for the community of Slavic universities. In 2026, RTSU marks its 30th anniversary, BRU marks the 25th anniversary of acquiring interstate status, next year RAU will turn 30, and in 2028 KRSU will celebrate its 35th anniversary. These dates, noted the Rector of SPbPU, add up to the history of a large joint educational project.

The participants of the summit were welcomed by Marina Kachyan, Head of a Department of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia: The format of the summit is in demand: Slavic universities readily come to Polytech to exchange experience. As for the name 'Slavic Horizon', a horizon is always an aspiration forward, new opportunities and an awareness that we shape the future together.

The first practical result of the summit was the signing of three bilateral agreements on the networked form of implementation of educational programs between SPbPU and its partner universities. SPbPU and KRSU are launching a networked bachelor’s program in the field of emergency protection.

The agreement with BRU is devoted to the bachelor’s degree program «Equipment and Technology of Welding Production». This field is directly linked to BRU’s industrial specialization and SPbPU’s engineering competencies in the field of materials, mechanical engineering and modern production technologies. The networked model will make it possible to link the educational process with the technological base, applied tasks and personnel training for the real sector.

The third agreement brought together SPbPU and RAU around a networked master’s program in the field of economics. For RAU, this is a logical development of the project and entrepreneurial agenda that is already being actively implemented with the participation of SPbPU.

The «Slavic Horizon 2026» summit has only just begun, and the main discussions are still ahead. But already the first day showed the main thing: the «Slavic Universities» project is increasingly confidently moving from the format of partner meetings to a system of practical solutions. The signed agreements, the launch of new fields of study and the common agenda set a new benchmark for cooperation — one where education, science, management and youth initiatives work toward shaping the universities of the future.
