The autumn of 2025 was marked by the active work of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University to attract talented applicants from Central Asian countries. In two major educational exhibitions in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, SPbPU was represented by Deputy Head of the Department of International Education Tatyana Sytnikova, Director of the Center for International Recruitment and Communications Maria Bocharova and assistant of the Higher School of Mechanics and Control Processes of the Institute of Physics and Mechanics Alexandra Matvienko, demonstrating the scientific and educational potential of our university.

At the end of October, the SPbPU delegation worked at the sites of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in Dushanbe and Khojent. In the 13th International Exhibition-Fair «Russian Education. Tajikistan-2025», which became the central event for Tajik applicants, was attended by more than 30 Russian universities.

The university staff spoke about the most promising areas from artificial intelligence and robotics to energy and new materials. Future students were particularly interested in the opportunity to enroll in SPbPU and study for free through the international Olympiad «Open Doors: Russian Scholarship project».

More than 200 individual consultations were held with applicants and their parents. The staff of the Polytechnic University explained in detail the conditions and stages of admission under the quota of the Government of the Russian Federation, as well as the possibilities of studying on a contractual basis. Recall that in 2025, 13 students from Tajikistan enrolled in SPbPU according to the quota, which is almost twice as many as in the previous year. Seven of them were enrolled in the master’s degree program, which indicates a growing interest in advanced training at Polytechnic University.

Individual consultations with applicants from Tajikistan

Immediately after the events in Tajikistan, SPbPU presented its programs in the Republic of Kyrgyzstan at the large-scale exhibition «Education in Russia 2026/27», which was held as part of the III Forum of School Leaders of the Kyrgyz Republic in four cities (Bishkek, Kant, Kara-Balta). The Forum has become a platform for discussing topical issues of school education development, management practices, career guidance, spiritual and moral education and the introduction of digital technologies.

The focus in Kyrgyzstan was on two audiences. Applicants at the university’s stand learned about the details of admission, entrance tests and life in St. Petersburg. Also, within the framework of the forum, representatives of Polytechnic University held working meetings with heads of educational institutions in Kyrgyzstan, discussing the possibilities of specialized training of schoolchildren in natural sciences, the organization of Olympiads and project activities, which is an important element of a long-term strategy to form a future pool of applicants.

3rd Forum of School Leaders of the Kyrgyz Republic

At the stand, the staff of the Polytechnic University presented for the first time new joint programs with Salymbekov University, a partner of SPbPU. The interest of the applicants’ parents was also due to the fact that SPbPU is the only university that has offered such a format of education for Kyrgyz students, and applications for study are being actively accepted and work is underway to expand the list of program directions.

Direct dialogue with applicants, their parents and teachers allows not only to conduct effective recruitment, but also to build long-term educational bridges that contribute to strengthening scientific and technical cooperation between the countries.

Acceptance of applications for study at SPbPU under the quota of the RF under the quota of the RF Government for Tajik and Kyrgyz applicants continues until December 15, 2025.
