SPbPU will become the venue for the meeting of the Russian-Chinese Commission on Humanitarian Cooperation
On September 21, a delegation from the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, the Embassy of the PRC in Russia and the Consulate General of the PRC in St. Petersburg visited Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. The visit took place ahead of the XXVII meeting of the Russian-Chinese Commission on Humanitarian Cooperation, which will be held on October 19 at the Research and Innovation Complex «Technopolis Polytech» of SPbPU.
The choice of Polytechnic University as the venue for one of the key intergovernmental events of the cross Years of Russian-Chinese cooperation in the field of education — the XXVII meeting of the Russian-Chinese Commission on Humanitarian Cooperation — underscores the university’s special status in the system of Russian-Chinese scientific and educational dialogue. The meeting of the commission will be held under the co-chairmanship of Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Tatyana Golikova and Member of the State Council of the PRC Shen Yiqin. For Polytechnic University, hosting an event of this level is not only a high organizational responsibility, but also recognition of SPbPU’s many years of work in developing partnerships with Chinese universities, scientific centers and industrial companies.
The Chinese delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Education of the PRC: Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges Jia Peng; Head of the Eurasia Division of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges Xu Zhejing; staff member of the Eurasia Division Shan Chuanzhijizi; Deputy Head for Administrative Affairs of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges Shan Zizhang. The delegation of the Embassy of the PRC in Russia was led by Minister-Counselor for Education Cao Shihai, and the delegation of the Consulate General of the PRC in St. Petersburg was led by Consul General Luo Zhanhui.
The guests were received by Andrei Rudskoi, Rector of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He introduced the delegation to the history and present-day image of SPbPU, spoke about the key directions of the university’s development, its scientific and educational infrastructure and its many years of experience in cooperation with Chinese partners.
Special attention during the visit was given to preparing the venue for the upcoming meeting of the commission. At the Research and Innovation Complex «Technopolis Polytech», the Chinese delegation inspected the spaces that will be used on October 19 and discussed organizational issues related to holding an event of such a high intergovernmental level.
The visit of the Chinese delegation became an important stage in the preparation for the October meeting of the Russian-Chinese Commission on Humanitarian Cooperation and once again underscored Polytech’s role as one of the key platforms for Russian-Chinese scientific and educational interaction.
