It is statistically proven that higher education in the field of energy is one of the most popular among young people from different countries. Specialists with a diploma in this field are highly competitive specialists in the international labor market and are employed by leading companies. In the Institute for Energy and Transport Systems (IETS) SPbPU they believe that "a person, who decided to devote life to energy sector, should have a high level of qualification, develop continuously and share experiences with colleagues". That is why this year the International Summer School at the Polytechnic IETS launched two new modules in the areas of "Turbo Machinery" and "Nuclear Energy". Turbo Machinery and Nuclear Energy modules at Polytechnic summer school caused a lot of interest among international students.

For three weeks 49 foreign students from Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, China, Mexico, Brazil, South Korea and Bulgaria studied in SPbPU. 10 students from Polytechnic university joined the international team. Extensive and compelling Summer School program included lectures of local and visiting professors from Italy, Czech Republic and Finland, as well as excursions to the energy enterprises of St. Petersburg. Students not only learnt a lot during the lectures and excursions to the profile enterprises, but also daily had a chance to improve their language skills.

Franco ROZATELLI, vice president of technology development of REP Holding greeted the students at the opening ceremony of Turbo Machinery and Nuclear Energy modules , he informed the students about the world trends in the development of turbomachinery and invited summer school particapants to visit the facilities of "REP Holding" at the end of the course.

It was wonderful that apart from lectures students had an opportunity to see the leading companies in the field. It is not surprising that international students are eager to visit Russian energy companies, since many of them are brands of global importance. For example, the state corporation Rosatom, which is proud of the cooperation with the Polytechnic University, brings together about 400 companies and research organizations. During the tour to the South-West CHPP-Turbinist students saw that its power units are constructed according to the combined cycle scheme. Next excursion was to the Leningrad nuclear power plant. For students this was a unique opportunity to see the block control room (MCR) and to stand on the lid of the RBMK reactor (RBMK). Also our guests visited visit the construction site of the second stage of the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant (NPP-2).

Participants of the International Polytechnic Summer School had a chance to see the sights of the northern capital and its suburbs "Interesting lectures, excellent coordinators, amazing guys and wonderful tours! Another interesting fact is that the closing ceremony of the Summer School, where students got their certificates of participation, took place on the territory of Russia's leading power engineering company CJSC "REP Holding". Study tour to the plant became the highlight of the international educational program. Everything, starting with the greeting words, presentation of the company and the tour to the production shops, left most vivid memories and positive emotions.

Guests were impressed by the Hermitage and by the fascinating trip to Peterhof as well as the live music party on the roof of "Petrocongress" business center. We hope that the knowledge that they got, positive emotions and unforgettable experiences will help students in their further studies, that they will continue at their universities.
