The International Polytechnic Summer School 2026: the educational track "Nuclear Technologies" has successfully completed its work
At Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, the International Polytechnic Summer School 2026 continues. On the basis of the SPbPU campus, 26 young scientists from different countries successfully completed training in the program «Ensuring the Safety and Operation of Nuclear Power Plants.» This course became part of the large-scale project «Summer Institute. Obninsk Tech: train-the-trainers,» initiated by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation with the support of the State Corporation Rosatom.
Young lecturers and research associates from countries where Rosatom operates: Indonesia, Tanzania, Bangladesh, the Republic of Belarus, Hungary, Malaysia, Serbia, and Vietnam, are undergoing training at leading centers of competence in the nuclear industry, including the Obninsk Institute of Nuclear Power Engineering, the Rosatom Technical Academy, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, and St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University «LETI.»
Within the module, the participants studied in detail key topics: the thermal scheme of a nuclear power plant with a water-water power reactor, turbine island equipment, maintenance and repair of NPP equipment. The attendees took part in the master class «Modeling of NPP Operating Modes Using the VEB Software and Hardware System,» and also examined the principles of safety assurance, NPP safety systems, and probabilistic safety analysis.
The participants not only immersed themselves in the educational process but also became acquainted with the culture and history of Russia: for them, excursions were organized to the nuclear energy museum based at the world’s first NPP in Obninsk, as well as sightseeing tours of Moscow and St. Petersburg.
SPbPU continues to strengthen its position as a leading center for international nuclear education, opening its doors to lecturers and researchers from all over the world.
