The Polytechnic at the Russian-Chinese Symposium on Infectious Diseases in Beijing

The VII Russian-Chinese Symposium on Infectious Diseases was held in Beijing. The event is organized alternately by the China CDC and the Smorodintsev Influenza Research Institute of the Russian Ministry of Health. The first symposium was held in 2018 in Beijing at the initiative of China CDC, supported by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. In 2019, the symposium was held in Russia, at the Polytechnic University. Since then, the symposium has been held annually for seven years. It is included in the list of planned activities to develop and strengthen the scientific partnership between Russia and China in the field of basic and applied research on infectious diseases. The event is supported by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.

The VII Russian-Chinese Symposium on Infectious Diseases was held in Beijing

This year the symposium was held in Beijing. For two days, the issues related to epidemiology, prevention and treatment of influenza, HIV and tuberculosis were discussed. The guests of the symposium were welcomed by Dr. Yan Jun, Deputy Director of the China Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and Wang Xiaoqi, Director of the International Cooperation Department of China CDC. Plenary report on «Disease X» was made by Prof. Xu Jianguo, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Sciences.

Director of the Institute of Biomedical Systems and Biotechnologies of SPbPU Professor Andrey Vasin moderated the section on influenza and together with Associate Professor of IBS&BT of SPbPU Ph.D.-M.Sc. Yana Zabrodskaya presented a scientific report on «Molecular and cellular mechanisms of neurological complications caused by influenza», carried out at SPbPU within the framework of the state assignment of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia together with the A.A. Smorodintsev Research Institute of Influenza.

The symposium was attended by leading Russian and Chinese virologists from China CDC, Chinese Academy of Engineering Sciences, Hunan University, Huashan Hospital in Shanghai, Shanghai Pulmonology Hospital, A. A. Smorodintsev Influenza Research Institute, St. Petersburg State University, N. F. Gamaley National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, Federal Research Center for Basic and Translational Medicine, National Medical Research Center for Basic and Translational Medicine, National Medical Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, National Medical Research Center for Basic and Translational Medicine, and National Medical Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology. Smorodintsev, SPbPU, Gamaley National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, Federal Research Center for Basic and Translational Medicine, National Medical Research Center for Phthisiopulmonology and Infectious Diseases (NMRC FPI) of the Ministry of Health of Russia. The next Russian-Chinese Symposium is scheduled to be held in St. Petersburg in 2025.
