The main theme of the meeting was the discussion of future interaction in the projects funded by the USA and Russia, academic mobility programs, exchange of academic and teaching staff, global strategic research projects, joint participation of students in semester programs.

It should be mentioned that the educational alliance of American universities intends to have a serious and effective dialog with Russian universities. For instance, Los Angeles experts and analytics track scientific and educational achievements of our country very carefully and think that Russian education is a world-class brand. Kathryn Ann Atchison said that the UCLA had started developing relationships with Russian education institutions since 2010. According to her, academic mobility, student and lecturer exchange are the first-priority directions for cooperation. Summer Polytechnic Schools, which are innovative platforms and international centers, are of the utmost interest for American students. It is also planned that the UCLA students will study the Russian language at SPbPU.

“The UCLA students want internships at Russian companies. They will get unique experience and will be able to apply their knowledge into practice when they go home,” Kathryn Ann Atchison commented.

Competitive advantages of the UCLA education are presented by its successful graduates, who work at transnational corporations and international companies. SPbPU Vice-Rector for International Relations D.G. Arseniev confirms that the leading Russian technical university is aimed to develop relationship with the US higher education institutions, among which the UCLA stands out due to its evident inter-university collaboration prospects. “A lot of SPbPU scientists are interested in joint scientific projects with the USA,” specified SPbPU Vice-Rector for International Relations D.G. Internationally-known companies, such as BOEING and AIRBUS, see in SPbPU students their future HR potential. Mathematical education in SPbPU has always been famous for its high performance and has been recognized by the professional community.

E. Zahlebayev, a postgraduate student of SPbPU and the “Formula Student” project manager, showed the Polytechnic automotive engineers’ significant achievement to the honored guest – the race car designed and developed by students themselves. Kathryn Ann Atchison agreed that speed is crucial in our world, especially when it concerns the striving to become the first, including in the educational sphere.
