On April 19, 2018, the 6th Chinese (Shanghai) International Technology Fair (CSITF) started in Shanghai. Together with the Government of St. Petersburg, SPbPU is presenting a joint stand with the latest innovation research developments and achievements of Russian scientists.

At the opening ceremony, RPC Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Lee MEN, RPC Deputy Minister of Finances Wang BINNAN, Deputy Head of Shanghai Administration Wu Qing and others greeted the public with warm welcome remarks.

In 2018, more than 1000 hi-tech companies from 24 countries took part in this broad-scale event. A grandiose in its scale event was organized with support of the PRC Ministry of Science and Technology, PRC Ministry of Education, Ministry of Industry and Information Technologies, etc. SPbPU presented about 20 unique exhibit items including a model of the first Russian customized concept car (CML CAR), a model of an electric car on solar panels; models of a micro sputnik, a terahertz therapy apparatus, a turbo expander, a boat on solar panels, and many others. Along with SPbPU, their developments presented the Shanghai Committee on Science and Technology and benchmarking Chinese and international enterprises operating in the field of IT-technologies of the new generation, the Internet of things, robotronics, and industrial innovations.

The plenary session on “Practical aspects of cooperation between China and Russia in the sphere of innovation technologies within the frame of the ‘One Belt – One Way’ initiative” organized by SPbPU with support of the SPbPU Representative Office in Shanghai was another important event which took place on April 19. Members of the SPbPU and St. Petersburg Government delegation took part in the session alongside representatives of Chinese companies and organizations. Vice Rector on prospective projects A.I. BOROVKOV addressed the audience with greeting remarks. “Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University is Russia’s leader in the sphere of advanced industrial technologies. If you want to touch the future and see the most advanced technologies in the world, take a look at our stand: we have presented our own concept car created by the system of intellectual assistants operating beyond the margins of the general designer’s intuition; by many characteristics, it surpasses all cars presently available on the market. Already today, more than 10 Chinese companies have expressed their interest in cooperation in this sphere,” A.I. BOROVKOV pointed out.

Ms. Weng JING welcomed participants on behalf of the Shanghai Government. She presented a report on the topic of “Advantages of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone for international innovation cooperation within the frame of the ‘One Belt – One Way’ initiatiative.”

The event was supported at the top diplomatic level: RF Consul General in Shanghai A.N. YEVSIKOV greeted the participants and presented a report on “The Impact of SPbPU cooperation with the Pudong New Area on the cooperation between Russia and China within the frame of the ‘One Belt – One Way’ initiative.” Yu.V. LUDINOVA, Deputy Head of the St. Petersburg Governor’s Administration, Director of the Project Department / Project Office greeted the guests on behalf of the St. Petersburg Government.

The intensive program of the plenary session also included the official opening ceremony for the Center of Language Internship for Master’s degree program of the Heilongjiang University students and the Russian-Chinese Biomedical Center for Transfer of Technology and Innovations.

Signing of an Agreement between SPbPU and SSDT (Shanghai Superior Die Technology), an affiliate of SAIC, the major Chinese motor manufacturer, became the highlight of the plenary session. The essence of the cooperation is the use of the competence of the SPbPU SRD Center in the interests of SSDT in the sphere of the advanced Light Weight constructions, reduction of the construction mass of the electric car bodies, modeling technological manufacturing processes, and the development of digital twins of production cells.

The concluding event for the members of the SPbPU and St. Petersburg Government delegation was the briefing for the leading Russian and Chinese mass media: RF TASS, Xinhua PRC, Information Agency of China, Shanghai Shanbao, Pudong TV Channel, etc. From the host party, more than 50 representatives of hi-tech innovation provinces, technological clusters, and industrial enterprises took part in the event. Ms. Su ZZIN, Director of the SPbPU Representative Office in Shanghai was moderating the event. The parties discussed the outcomes of cooperation between St. Petersburg and hi-tech PRC regions in various innovation spheres in the mode of a live dialogue.
