Visit of the First Secretary of the Embassy of Vietnam Mai Nguyen Tuyet Hoa to SPbPU
First Secretary of the Embassy of Vietnam for Education Mai Nguyen Tuyet Hoa visited Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. During the visit, aimed at strengthening educational and scientific ties, she got acquainted with the 126-year history and modern achievements of Polytechnic University, as well as discussed current projects and prospects for cooperation.

Cooperation with Vietnam, which has been going on for more than half a century, occupies a special place in the activity of our university. Key partners are Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Binh Duong University and Le Qu Don Technical University. Le Cu Don. Joint projects have included setting up laboratories, training teachers in digital technology, and research in logistics and environmental science. Key achievements include the establishment of joint laboratories, Russian language centers and participation in the Vietnam-Russia University of Technology project in Hanoi. Today, Polytechnic University has 73 students from Vietnam, most of whom have chosen engineering and IT spheres.

Mai Nguyen Tuyet Hoa emphasized the importance of research activities as a key element of cooperation between universities of the two countries. She noted that Russian universities retain the status of classical academic centers, actively developing scientific directions: professors and researchers participate in international projects, create joint laboratories, publish papers with foreign colleagues. Special attention is paid to «mirror laboratories» and engineering centers, where scientists from different countries join forces.

Despite this, Mai Nguyen Tuyet Hoa noted, The success of Vietnamese graduates of the Polytechnic University inspires new applicants to choose Russia. During the meeting with Vietnamese students, she expressed her admiration for the teaching conditions and scientific base of the university: It is better to see once than to hear a hundred times. I am sure this visit will become an impetus for new joint initiatives.
Students who choose Russia demonstrate high adaptation — they quickly learn the language and get involved in the academic environment. To strengthen the position of Russian education, Mai Nguyen Tuyet Hoa suggested expanding information support: disseminating data on exchange programs, summer schools, English-language courses and joint research initiatives. She sees particular potential in the creation of a Russian-Vietnamese university similar to the already existing «Slavic Universities» project. Such a university could focus on engineering, natural science and IT areas, where the demand for cooperation is particularly high.

Dmitry Arseniev, vice rector for international affairs, expressed hope that the visit of the Vietnamese delegation will open a new chapter of cooperation. He noted that Polytech is ready to accept more students, support faculty internships and create interdisciplinary projects.
Our doors are always open,
the vice rector emphasized. It is important that the initiative comes from both sides: from finding common scientific interests to attracting industrial partners.
Polytechnic University sees potential in revitalizing targeted groups of students from Vietnam, who in the past have shown outstanding results in their academic performance. Today, when SPbPU is among the top 10 technological universities in the country, this cooperation can become a bridge between academic traditions and the challenges of the digital era.
